Hi Sandy,
I am indeed sorry that Yahoo is giving you a hard time. As Paul Martin points out, Schoppie's group is a one shot, easy access right from the web, whereas our other group is embedded in the Yahoo community.

I started with Yahoo way back when they were pretty much the only show in town, besides AOL which was the pits as far as I was concerned.

Once I got registered with Yahoo-username and password, I've not had any problems. I was off line during my move for over 8 months and never expected to get my old Yahoo ID back-Guinessman-but I was very surprised when I tried to log on and was recognized and "asked" if I wanted to try and recover mail and so on. It took a couple of days but went well-so I'd say that was a plus for Yahoo.

They do prompt you periodically for your password, which can be a nuisance, but most of the time, Widow's ability to remember your pass word with your log in ID gets me around that...still, every so often I get the screen asking me for my password. I suppose it does provide a level of protection for privacy.

On to the bad aspects of Yahoo. And this relates directly to when they deleted our Group, the predicessor to the current group. We called it Adults That Use Diapers. We never got any explanation as to why, so Yahoo can be dictitorial and arbitrary.

But still, registering shold not be a frustraiting experience and once registered with Yahoo, you should be good for life. You say your husband is registered, so it is more baffling to me that you can't get right in with his username and password.

As Paul and I both report, there is daily conversation on Brew's group involving several participants. Not to mention the number of women we now have as members.

We would love to have your input at the Yahoo Group and if you can get past the aggrevation of Yahoo, I think you will love it there and you'll stay pretty busy dealing with posts on both boards!

Paul Martin,
I think you put that very well!

It certainly is a question that comes up often when someone is thinking aobut cloth diapers. I never had a good answer, yet I never felt "wet" in my diapers until they were really soaked. Even then, the discomfort was more from air getting in-as in the waistband at the rear-and evaporative cooling causing me discomfort. And I always knew when I felt that, I was well beyond the time for a change!

When I put a cloth diaper strip into a disposable as a booster, I experience a "wet feel" and I think you've hit the nail on the head.

Cloth wicking with an all cloth diaper, that gets changed at a reasonable time, accounts for my never really feeling wet in my cloth diapers.

I found some Terry cloth and Flannel briefs on EBay the other day they were going for ten to twenty bucks buy it now. so I took them. The cheaper ones had snaps on the sides the more $$ ones had Velcro and there was one pull up in the mix. They claim the snap ones are double layer and the Velcro are triple layer. But they didn't say what the pull up had for layers. Let ya know when I get them  ..........Sandy

Sandy,
So you finally found that deal on e-bay! I figured you would. My only concern is the quality of diaper you are getting. Hopefully, you have some coming that will give some decent protection. When you get these diapers, look at their thickness and judge if you're going to need to add some of your baby diaper boosters you've already bought. You are going to have to experiment with the combination of the two to get the protection you need each night. I hope this combination works for you. I really would hate you used some sub-par cloth diapers that didn't do well, and it turned you off about using cloth. Keep us up and how they do and let me know if you need any pointers on their use and care. Sandy finally dit it! ........................Paul (Martin)

I got them!
They came today I put them in the wash right away as you guys suggest. Once again I don't know what brand they are no tags to be found?

The snap ones are white and have three snaps on each side and are double layered with terry cloth all the way to the snaps. The elastic band is front and back on the waist. The elastic appears to be about 3/4 of an inch wide both at the waist and the leg openings.

The Velcro ones are basically the same but have a third layer. and one is kinda pink in color :) They look like they have more then just one more layer then the snap ones?

The pull-up one is kind of a light tan in color. It looks heavy duty it's thick! and it appears to be Terry cloth all the way. Unlike the other ones that have a flannel like cover on the outside. Is it more common to have Fannel on the outside and Terry on the inside. Rather then terry all the way or Flannel on the inside or or or?

I haven't heard you guys say much if anything about the snap ones are these kind of uncommon? ..................Sandy

I'm so excited with you! Finally Joe and I get to see how you like cloth diapers! By your description, they sound OK. As I said earlier in a post, you'll need to experiment with your cloth baby diapers for the right combination. Some of my cloth diapers have the flannel on the outside and terry cloth inside. In fact, I've kept my Loving Comfort diapers like this that have the flannel worn away and I use the left over terry cloth as a daytime diaper. My personal preference is gauze, but several pairs I have are flannel. If I'm not mistaken, a lot of British diapers are terry cloth. Joe K could comment on that. The pull-up diapers usually have a terry cloth infill or polyfill.
Anyway you look at it, they all work. I'll bet your husband is going to notice if you try them tonight. Especially with those frilly plastic panties you bought earlier. Let us know how they work, Sandy. .....Paul(Martin)

Well it is different having cloth. I washed them several times as you guys stated. I wore cloth all day yesterday and have a snap on one right now

Last night I had a couple glasses of water before going to bed I wanted to give that pull up a real work out and I did. I woke up with a little bit of a leak around the waist band of my plastic panties. but the pull up was soaked front to back side to side WOW talk about thirsty.

Yesterday I tried the Velcro and the snap on during the day. I was able to go around 4 hours with the snap on one before it started to get uncomfortable and I was able to get about about 6 hours out of the Velcro one. I could have gone a little longer with either one then I did but I was getting uncomfortable and didn't want to risk a leak. But then again the snap on one did start to leak a little

I do find that with cloth that I do feel wetter then if I'm wearing a disposables especially sitting down. Standing up isn't as bad. I still feel kind of partial to disposable diapers. But am going to really try the cloth out. When the one that I'm wearing needs to be changed I'll be doing wash :(

I have to admit cloth is different in some ways I really do like it :D and in other ways not so much :? I'm going to have to experiment with the boosters. But I wanted to see how the briefs would work without any help

Sandy,
I've been wondering when you would post back to tell us how the cloth diapers did. Looks by your post, you put them threw the test!
I was suprized you tried them even during the day so quickly. I do not wear cloth diapers to work since changing them is too akward in an office inviroment. At home during the weekends is more practical to me.
When I do wear them at home, I typically will change them once I can feel the wetness aproaching my bottom. That can be 2 to 3 hours or depending how bad I wet each time. So I really don't let the diaper get wet enough to let it get uncomfortable while I'm sitting.

At night, it's a different story. As you said, Sandy, the cloth diaper wicks so well I hardley feel the wetness until I stand out of bed or move in bed.

I noticed you put a frowny face next to you note about having to wash your diapers. It's really not that bad. I now think nothing of it anymore. I like it when I take them out of the drier to fold them and put them away. The clean smell and the softness is nice. I use Dreft to wash my diapers, and I just like that fragrance.

You didn't say what your husband thought about them that first night. Did he like them? My wife really doesn't care seeing me in my night time diaper, but she knows that I need them. She does agree that a cloth diaper is more practible than a disposable, though. With her over active bladder, though, I really believe she'll end up in a diaper like me as it gets worse. That will probably be a while, though.

Any ways, let me know if you need any advice on washing and care of your diapers and plastic panties. You need to wash your plastic panties by hand rather than throwing them in the wash with your diapers. They'll last a lot longer if you do. .....................Paul(Martin)

Paul you stated you were surprised I wore them during the day? You forget I don't have an office to go to. I'm at home more often then not or at my husbands shop which is just across the yard from the house.

JoeK is right about wearing coveralls with cloth diapers . My husband couldn't tell if I was wearing the normal disposable or the three layer cloth that I was wearing. I'm thinking I'm going to be taking on the Jed look more often now with the cloth diapers. .............Sandy

Sandy,
I didn't realize that your husband's shop was right across the street. That's really convenient for both of you. That also explains why you can wear cloth during the day. Good for you!
The overalls really do work well. The test will be when you wear pants. I wear relaxed fit jeans and slacks at the office that have pleated fronts. My skinney rear allows for the diaper to fill out my pants with either type pants. My wife said my rear doesn't look too big, but when it does, she'll slap my rear and say I'm a little poofy back there.
It's the same with cloth diapers. Only they will show a little bulk at your hip sides. A little more concern for ladies than men.
Over all though, bibs are great for diaper wearers for sure!

Good Luck for the week end. Do you have more than one pair of plastic panties? I remember the frilly ones from LL Medico, but don't recall you saying getting any more anywhere else. ........Paul
