irritation on waist/hips

Sun Feb 13, 2022 8:25 am

I'm not experiencing any rash, but I do have irritation on the sides of my waist/hip area. I'm wondering what can cause that? Could be caused by some of the extra material from the wings of the diaper? Has anyone else had this kind of issue? If so, were you able to find a solution, and what was it?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi There

I too have this problem so annoying what I do is make sure the diaper flaps are flat against my hips so the plastic is facing outward, it is the plastic backing that causes my irritation. I do use a barrier cream though and this helps a lot in addition to Sudocream to deal with any irritation I have a steroid cream if things are very bad! This is a small burden I have accepted to deal with my incontinence and have as close to normal life as possible!

I have the problem of a persistent irritation on a skin fold where my diaper waist elastics make contact. I have used a barrier cream (Desitin) and coconut oil to manage it and it gets better temporarily and then it returns.

I mentioned it to my dermatologist during a full-body scan and she prescribed Ciclopirox Olamine Cream (Ciclopirox cream). It seems to have worked. I was to use it twice a day for a number of days and then use it once a day.
