Hello gang!

Just thought id check in and let you all know whats being going on. First of all, yes im still dry as a bone, with the exception of a few very minor postvoid dribbles once in a blue mooon and a freak release during a bath (not sure what that was about..never happened before, maybe was holding it to long, or manybe it was an unconsious thing), but very much enjoying underwear and not dragging around the ball and chain backpack full of diapers. I now work 2 part time jobs, still the substitute teaching job but also as a Recovery Coordinator assiting those with disablilites find those resources they need with particular emphasis on those experiencing severe mental illness with no recourse to community mental health systems. I will say that the job is challenging at times, but i am paid well. Unfortunately it also means that this summer i won't be returning to the special needs camp i worked at for the past 2 summers and love so well. But, i will be making a visit as training for my job brings me to that area in a few weeks :D.
Not that i look at these things at a regular basis (because i no longer need them), but one trend that I have happened to notice notice is that Chain stores seem to be marketing full briefs less and less, and promoting the pull on style, and you all know how i felt about the pull ons  . I must say, if was still in the situation i was 3 years ago.. id balk at the protection choices you find in retail stores.. the odd thing is, depending on when you shop, you find better selection at thrift stores.. walked into the local goodwill recently just to see what was in the store in general, and saw a bunch of attends breathable.. with the new and improved packaging desingn..

about the bathtub thing.. does anyone else notice their bladder tending to relax more when lying in warm water? is there anyway to counteract the effect?

In other news, my niece just started walking just before her first birthday, and my nephew is crawling all over the place.. and he is also my godson :) and he will be 1 in August.

Best of luck to everyone during the summer months..i know what hell it can be for those of you that have to stay padded.. stay dry, and dont forget to live life to the FULL!

Peace out!

Rob

When I was about eleven or twelve I heard that if you put a person's hand in warm water while they were asleep they'd wet the bed. One night I saw my sister asleep with her arm hanging over the side of the bed and my brother and I got a bucket of warm water and brought it up so her hand was in it. She woke up about half a minute later and had in fact wet the bed.

The fact that I wet myself every night now is probably my karma for that act in my childhood.

Hello Sociologygeek,

I was re-reading one of your old posts just the other day and thought of you. I even looked to see when you were last here which was last December prior to your visit yesterday. I thought maybe you had forgoten about this place since becoming continent. Your an exception,......most ppl here never regain their continence again. I can recall the many conversations we had, and I know those were very trying times for you when the doc's could not tell you the exact cause of your incontinence while you were finishing up your degree in underwater basket weaving,...right? LOL, No,.....I'm glad you enjoy what your doing and appear to have a great passion for it. It shows with your tireless enthusiasm. When your teaching,.....what do you teach?

There has only been one person since you became inactive in the forum that took off making as many postings as you did, and now Don has slowed down some. I can recall you making what seemed to be 10, or more per day at times and kept the discussions moving when things got slow. You should be more active and make so posts about some of the experiences you had while the doc's were trying to figure out the cause of your incon. Your living proof that sometimes the cause can be found but it takes time.

Good to hear from you again stranger.

Hi Rob!
Thanks again, for stopping by! You know you are always welcome here!

You have noticed the same thing in retail stores that I have! The pull on disposable diapers termed "underwear" have been the rage and displaced tape on briefs. More evidence of undying diaper stigma. Even tho the tape on diapers were termed "briefs" and never "diapers", still they have given way to the "underwear". Shelf space in retail is a function of sales and what sells, gets space and what doesn't sell, gets less space until they disappear entirely off the shelves.

The lack of absorbancy and failure of the product to protect us from wet pants seems to have no bearing. People who don't know any better and don't know about on-line purchasing of diapers that work, just put up with what they get on the shelves and think that's all there is.

On a related note, Sandy has pointed out that Depends is considering adding lace to the ladies "underwear". Sandy also adds that it would be far better for them to make the diaper more absorbent and useful than to add cosmetic touches..... it's all about sales and money.....sad to say!

John, i would never forget my online cyber incon family.. i just have been doing other things.. as far as doctors go... it was a confusing myraid of things that were going on... and i dont remember details.. But, to make a long story short.. I got cured because i didnt give up looking.,, and God's grace no doubt played a role in my persevereance.

Im tired, and better finish my timesheet so i can go to bed..its in the wee hours of the moring here.

Peace out.

Rob

P.S. As far as what i teach, well, it depends on whats needed.. Ive subbed every grade K-12.. but no longer do middle school or highschool..but i ESPECIALLY enjoy being a special ed aide.. that way i only have 1 or 2 students to focus on versus an entire group as a teacher
