Hello all. I am hoping that my life is turning around for the better. Ever since being medically retired from the Marines, my life has been chaotic and I don't make enough to support my family. I am trying to change all that. I am graduating from college this term (May) with a degree in Business Admin and technical certificates in Accounting and Logistics. I am trying to take this education with my military logistics experience and get a job with the Dept. of Veterans Affairs. I want to help disabled vets like myself. I am hoping this job works out. If it does, I will be moving to Texas. It will involve getting all new doctors for myself and family. I will have to explain my conditions again and hopefully, they won't try to cure me. It has been my experience that some docs will try to cure you no matter how much it ruins your quality of life. I'm not up for that in the least. I have been tested and retested. There is no cure for my issues. They are permanent. I have been incon for 4 years and I live quite well. I should hear something back soon from the VA regarding my employment. They have already told me I am eligible and highly qualified. So thats promising. As far as doctors go, I believe I have located some good ones. I have done some research and I believe I have chosen some good doctors. I'll have to meet them to verify. I used to live in the same part of Texas to which I may be moving so I already know the urologist I would go to and we are going to send my kids to the same Pediatrician. But I will have to meet the family practice doctor and Psychiatrist that I have selected. Hopefully, this all works out. Cross your fingers and pray because I really need this to put my life back together!

Hi Don. I go see a new doctor a week from Monday. This is due to different insurance that does not include my regular clinic doctors as approved doctors. I could still visit my regular clinic but the insurance would cover a lesser percentage of the cost of the visit. I too hope the new doctor doesn't get a wild hair to try and cure my lack of bladder control. I've been through all of that and have a management system that works for me without cramping my lifestyle. I'm going to downplay the bladder control issues and instead focus on other health issues I have such as cronic sinus problems and a very painful shoulder due to a torn rotator cuff that I injured almost 3 years ago. There is nothing they can do to help with my bladder control as it is due to permanent nerve damage.

DDS,
Just tell the new doc you have incontinence due to nerve damage. They know there is nothing they can do for that. I have sensory problems and a neuropathy. My doctors here in Florida are pretty much done trying to cure me. I just hope my new docs view it the same way. I'm like you, the cure is worse than the disease and I have a management system that works for me. Good luck seeing your new doc.
