So I have been dealing with some sort of incontinence for about 16 years, and recently went to the urologist because I am having pain in my groin. It feels like someone has kicked me very hard in the groin. So three weeks ago my urologist gave me Rapaflo, which is the first time I have tried any kind of incon medicine, along with an antibiotic. I had to quit taking the Rapaflo, because within 3 days my testicles swelled up and the pain increased tremendously. After stopping the medication, the swelling went down, but the pain remained. To cut to the chase, I saw him again he prescribed Vesicare (which he calls "old woman peeing medicine", and to which I said "I am nether old or a woman" but I digress). I told him my focus is on the pain; I can manage the incontinence. To which he said he thinks the two are related. This just baffles me. Having dealt with incontinence for so long, and only having pain recently, I just don't follow his logic. I am going along with him for now, but in a few weeks if the pain hasn't changed my doctor will. |

I agree that if your doctor can't get you an answer on the cause of the pain to go see another doctor. Pain is not something normal and can be caused by many different factors from infections to who knows what. Only after you get a diagnosis on the pain can it be treated. I've been incontinent for 13 plus years now and I've not experienced any physical pain (mental pain is another issue) but then I have a neurogenic bladder due to permanent nerve damage so I don't feel anything coming from or leaving my bladder. |

Pain is one of those things where the cause is either strikingly obvious (broken leg) or nearly impossible to pinpoint. If your general doctor isn't giving you satisfactory results try finding a pain specialist. I spent several years in my childhood being shuffled from doctor to doctor as they all attempted to "fix" me. Eventually I settled on managing things myself, but however you go it really shouldn't hurt. That is a sign of something more seriously wrong. |

Ohhhh, been there, having flashbacks, let's just say it was NOT a good time... I have had prostatitus for many years, comes and goes, not really bothersome, but makes my urgency worse. I had the groin pain around 10 or so years ago, it turned out to be a rather nasty infection that pretty well incapacitated me for 4 months, tried the antibioticws to no avail. Felt like the worst case of blue balls, X1000... I finally couldn't take it any longer and told the Uro I saw about it to just remove the testicle, I can make do with one, and not having any kids at this point in life, so infertility as a possible risk was a non-factor. He opted to do the operation, but to only remove the epydidimus tubing, which is the the coiled tube on the back of the testicle. Turns out far too many men have this problem, some attributed to having a vasectomy, which I didn't have (got half of one now! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

My doctor has ruled out epididymitis, and is guessing at a prostate infection. I have had the pain before and I will have a bout of it every two years or so. At first they thought it was testicular cancer, but frequent sonograms have not detected any. The pain also moves from left to right, front to back. I am not married, have never been married, have no kids, and hope to have some someday. I won't let them steal my boys without exhausting every other possibility. |

I don't blame you if chldren are a possibility in the future. At 44ish now, that has long been ruled out! If I hadn't made any by 30, that wasn't happening later on if I could help it. Any kind of pain "down there" is not at all fun, that is for sure. I am very glad I got that taken away, it sure was miserable. The last scope Ihad, the Uro told me I had a prostate infection, he could see it... not a surprise to me, been ongoing for a long time, not a pain issue, just bothersome, hope you get some answers soon, Puffy |

In my case the bladder muscles bear down so quickly and strongly it causes leaks and pain. I tried meds to paralyze the bladder muscles and do intermittent cathing, but I couldn't take the side effects (dry mouth) so I quit. Still get the pain but not as often or as badly. |
