Lately I've been wearing more disposables due to travelling and convenience. I almost never get a rash except when I wear disposables for more than a day or two in a row. The rash seems to develop no matter what brand of disposable I wear. With cloth I almost never get rashes of any type. I layer flat diapers but find I'm spending too much time every week layering and folding. I'm thinking of going back to ordering prefolds. This would save me a good hour or two every week. Any suggestions of what brands to order? I haven't ordered any prefolds for several years. The last half dozen I had were made by my then fiance' (now my lovely wife). I'm looking for the best quality at a reasonable price. I got sticker shock the other day when shopping around on line The best pricing I have found so far is at Changing Times. There is another vendor that offers an all birdseye prefold for the same price. I know it will be an investment but I'm getting tired of layering flats and the rashes from disposables. The rashes are minor and usually go away in a day with the help of A&D ointment but they can be very irritating.

I have been using the CTDC prefolds for a couple of years. I have also used ADCs birdseye and gauze in the past. ADC makes good prefolds but their price has gone up quite a bit in the last year or so. The twill fabric in the CTDCs holds up very well and is quite soft after several washings. I have several that are over two years old and show very little wear.

A long time ago I tried flannel and was very disappointed. Flannel did not wick as well as the other fabric types and took a long time to dry. I also had more rashes with flannel. Good luck finding a prefold that works for you.

I like to use cloth diapers at night, or extended wear. Like everyone, I want the best quality at the lowest price. I've tried cloth diapers from several companies and would recommend ADC, but I think their sizing is a little off if you have a waist size of 40". The length of the diaper is a little long so getting a good fit is not easy. Over the years, I tried different type of materials but I like Birdseye the best. Angle Fluff, and Loving comfort make some high quality cloth diapers in different styles, i.e. velcro, pin, and pull-on. However, if your looking for a quality pin type Birdseye pre-fold, I would highly recommend a company called "Baby-Pants". This company markets to AB's, and I never would have tried their diapers but I stumbled on to them when I was looking on eBay for some quality cloth diapers at a reasonable price. They have a website and also sell their diapers on eBay. In the beginning, I purchased 3 diapers from them at a fixed price on eBay. If I recall correctly, I paid $59 for 3 diapers and FREE shipping. After tring the 3 diapers I purchased several more. The diapers are well made and very absorbent. The fit is prefect, and if I recall correctly, the length is 2 inches shorter than the Birdseye pre-fold diapers I purchased ADC. The web address is www.baby-pants.com Like I said, they sell a LOT of AB stuff but so don't be offended,......your interest is the cloth diapers they sell and not the adult size pacifier, locking diapers, etc. Their cloth diapers really are very good and so you might want to review the description of their diapers in more detail by visiting their website, or reviewing their item description on eBay.

Hope this helps.

Hey John Stone,
That Baby-Pants site looks like they carry a lot of good stuff. I may try them out the next time I'm ready to reorder some diapers and plastic pants.
By the way DDS, I have used the pre-folds from Adult Cloth Diaper(ACD) and they last a long time. I'm sold on the gauze diapers there. ....Paul Martin

Paul,

In addition to the diapers I purchased from Baby Pants, I also purchased some of their frost color plastic pants. They are well made with a good fit. The price was also pretty reasonable. I was very satisfied with both items purchased, and wouldn't hesitate to buy these same items again from this company.

I guess most medical supply companies sell AB items of some type, but there is no mistake about this company, (Baby-Pants),.......they target the AB market and if they happen to sell their products to incon ppl so be it where as a medical supply company markets to incon ppl and if AB's happen to buy their products so be it. I really don't care what company I buy items from,..... ..I just want quality products at a reasonable price.

I ran across the "Baby Pants" site when I had googled adult cloth diapers. This is the other site with cloth diapers priced the same as Changing Times. The site is set up as an AB/DL site but the prices look to be fair compared to a few other sites. Their plastic pants are made by Gary as they offer the same pants other Gary resellers offer. I might order a couple of their birdseye diapers to try. I will likely order a couple from 2 or 3 companies to start.

I don't have a problem with flannel. It is a tighter weave than both birdseye and gauze and does not absorb liquid as fast but it has always wicked just fine for me. It just takes a little longer due to the tighter weave. I seldom flood but instead seep and dribble so super fast absorbsion has never been a concern. Layering I use two outer flannel layers with birdseye center soakers. It has worked very well for me but I'm getting tired of layering and folding.

Well I've tried a few brands of prefolds. All work just fine. If I had to chose a favorite it is the 100% birdseye prefold from Baby Pants. This is a quality diaper and the cost for the medium prefold is less than $20 each. I'll be placing an order for more in the near future. They call it a night-time weight (4-8-4) but it really isn't as bulky as I thought it might be. It doesn't create any more diaper bulge than the layered flats I had been wearing. I'm saving lots of time every day not having to layer/fold the flat diapers. :D
