Willard, You can do an internet search and maybe come up with something but I don't think anything exists that really works. Swim diapers are intended to contain fecal incontinence and hopefully the wearer will notice that he had a loss of stool and will immediately leave the pool before contaminting the water. The chlorine treatment in pools can handle urine from an incontinent person swimming in that pool. Natural water, lakes and ocean can handle urine release...no problem. Most of our concerns are pool side.....how to avoid a puddle forming under our lounge chair. There have been various ideas posted for diapering in and around the pool area, to swim with no diaper and then to get a diaper on for the lounging around part. I think I recall some offering for a urine swim diaper, tho. It was a bit complicated as I recall and it should come up in a search if they are still around. There is no problem for any diaper keeping urine "in" but there is a very difficult problem keeping the water "out". |

Everyone pees in a pool whether they're incontinent or not, and - whether they admit it or not. Use the restroom before swimming, and if you leak - you leak. When you get out - go put on whatever protection you use. If you have stool incon - then - a swim diaper is a MUST. But - Yes, water will Still get in. |

I've bought several of the swim diapers, one had a waterproof outer and a single layer of flannel inside. Good for one small wetting and slight bowel incon, nothing more. If you had diarrhea forget it!! I did buy a urine/fecal containment pair once. It had two pants, an inner waterproof one and an outer compression pant. The inner pant was urethane coated nylon and had tight fitting leg and waist bands that were also coated with a somewhat sticky coating. It was supposed to keep the water out and contain any urine or feces when used with the compression pants over it. They didn't work as the water got in anyway. The regular swim diapers just let the water in and wash any urine or feces out almost immediately. |

There are no pants for urinary incontinence while swimming. Just pee in the pool/ocean/lake/whatever, everyone else does. There are several "swim diapers" on the market, most targeted for those who have fecal incontinence. I do have a "containment garment" by DTO, I got it from XP Medical. It is a neoprene velcro-on cover with a flannel inner lining. It fits very snugly and does a great job of keeping water out of a disposable diaper when I am in a situation where I might get wet. I use it for rafting and canoeing trips so the disposable doesn't absorb water if I get splashed or fall out of the boat. I wouldn't trust it to keep water out indefinitely in a swimming situation, but it can withstand a minute or two of submersion, long enough for me to get to shore or back in the boat. |
