After putting off my appointment to see a gastroenterologist, I have finally decided to see one. I have an appointment with him. Maybe he can shed some light on my on and off bouts of fecal incontinence. I thought I was on a roll and had gone 3 weeks without have a bowel movement during the night. Last night I broke the streak. I have no problem wearing pull-ups to the doctor. He should understand better than anyone.

Good luck. I hope they figure it all out for you.

As for the pull up, these people are professionals and should deal with it in the same manner. I have heard of the odd doctor bot being able to deal with it very well on here but that's a very isolated case. I no matter who I see be it nurses doctors or specialist have been treat with respect and dignity.

I hope this helps you relax a little, I'm sure most have similar experiences.

Charlie.

I went to the doctor and went prepared as I have written everything down about my fecal incontinence. I told him that I have had a rectal exam and a colonoscopy and my stool has been tested twice for I really don't know what, but everything is negative. As usual, they always bring up my diabetes and how nerve damage could be a problem....anyway I started taking an antibiotic for the intestines called Xifaxan. It is mainly used for traveler's diarrhea and works well with bacteria. I have to take an antibiotic to help speed up my stomach so that my food gets digested because I have gastroparesis. After I finish the Xifaxan I am then to start taking Florastor twice daily. It is is probiotic. Oh, also they want to test my stool AGAIN. I already have an appointment in 3 weeks to see the gastro again. He wanted to start with the medication before we move on to other tests.

Any news from your Gastro doc? I saw one too over the last 6 mos. I also have alot of diarrhea with fecal incon. I have an unofficial diagnosis of IBS. I don't know if I have that. I have diarrhea like every day and fecal incon like 2x a week. I have had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, stool test, blood test, and CT scan of my abdomen. Not much turned up on any of those tests. Just wondering how your doing?
