Hi I just been medically advice about a month or 2 by my G.P to wear Continence Pads due to slight Urinary Incontinence as well as sweating due to Anxiety Disorder which my G.P thinks is causing it as She has done a Full Blood work as well as an Urinary sample which showed nothing.

Since then I have been wearing Depends Underwear for men with Super Plus Absorbency put still find wet spots on my boxers which I wear over the depends and was wondering if this was normal. If not what kind of protection would be better I would prefer pull up style as don't feel confident with tape style.

Thank you

I think most of us here would agree... Depends are junk. If you are getting them for free that's one thing, but if you are paying out-of-pocket there are many better brands available.

Personally I only wear the "tape up" products because I need complete protection... however if you are only dealing with minor to moderate leakages the pull-up style may work well for you.

Most of the high quality brands are only available for purchase online. I personally recommend that you check out the lines of products offered by XPMedical (xpmedical.com) and Magic Medical (magicmedical.com). Both have quality goods at fair prices with excellent customer service.

I agree with the use of only 'tape on' products. I find that anything else shifts about as I move and is inevitably not in the right place when a leak comes. having no time to waste changing wet clothes and washing them, tape-ons are for me.

Hey tom!
It's not normal for you to have wet spots on your boxers despite wearing protection..after all thats what its there for, to keep you dry.

If you deal with slight to moderate leakage.. pullups are good.. but keep in mind.. they are good for dribbles and dribbls only. But even then, the problem wit them that i found was depending on where your penis is pointed.. you can leak out the side of the padding, thus no protection at all. You say you dont feel confident in a tape on brief.. i assume by confindent you mean at ease, worry free, not self conscious.. the noisy kind eh? you dont want to give up using hte toilet, and having something that tapes on is hard to get off..

If you can keep an open mind, i recommend trying out the Tena Ultra brief. I used to deal with moderate to heavy incontinence, and only often got it sliglty wet.. and it still fit good. The problem with pullups is they often feel loose on the body.

Now, for some pullups work great.. for some, they dont. I did not care for them.. i only bought one package of them, whereas i bought at least 20 packages of depend tape-on briefs.

See, the thing that distinguishes Tena Ultra from your everyday any other biref is that it is cloth backed, just like a pullup. And the tabs on the diaper are velcro.. allowing for easy refastineinng. I wore them for over a year until my problems got resolved.. and wearing a diaper doesnt necessarily lead to diaper dependence.

But, if you are not comfortable with the idea of wearing a diaper period.. thats ok. There are plenty of pull up products better than depend available to you.

Most of all, don't get too dependent on the pullup.. it may make things worse. Also, take heart. The fact i was moderate to heavy incontinent and now totally dry gives hope to you..i got dry, so can you :D

Hi Sociologygeek,

Tried to look up Tena Ultra but couldn't find out where to buy or test them in Australia as I would like to try them as I don't them I will be able to do the tapes properly and the tapes being velcro seems a lot easier as well as it being cloth backed even tho at the moment I am even willing to try the plastic backed type as long as its velcro so I readjust if I need to with out ripping.

Thank you

Hey Tom,

Oops..LOL..forgot you were in a different country... hmm... ill see what i can find.. im at the tena website for australia, and i do not see Tena Ultra listed.. i see Tena Slip though, but that is WAY too much for what your'e describing..the whole idea is a MODERATE abosrbency brief and tena slip is a heavy absorbency brief.

BUT, you may want to try tena flex. http://www.tena.com.au/Looking-after-lo ... uct-range/ although i dont know whether it would be different than a pullup.. this is a product similar to abena's abri-wing. its a diaper that fits much like a belted undergarment.. but is more absorbent..

By the way, ive ALWAYS wanted to visit Australia! Can you see any kangaroos from where you are?

wait a minute..i found something!

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Tena-Ultra-Brief ... 3ef371f38b

Mind you, thats a case, not a sample..but, its a place to start.. the reason shipping is so high i think is its an american based market..

That's all i was able to find for now..but i will keep looking :)

Rob
