What topics make good forum posts?

Wed Jul 16, 2025 1:45 am

For me the central incontinence related questions used to be -- how can I get less pee to go into my pants? how can I get more of it to go into the toilet/urinal? I was trying to get answers both from my doctors, and from this forum, and also from just trying different things and seeing what worked. When you're in that mode -- doctor said X, I tried Y, Z happened -- it's pretty engaging when you can kind of have this active dialog about how bodies actually work, how to actually hold in more pee for a longer amount of time, how to wet less in your pants, etc.

If I'm just in diapers the whole time, there is a whole lot less to talk about! I'm lucky in that I don't have any skin concerns, and I tend to be ok with whatever brand of high capacity disposable happens to not be out of stock at the time when I go to place an order.

Greetings bcca

Basically this place is a safe space to vent and talk about the frustrations of incontinent life and showing kindness to each other on the incontinent journey that for whatever reason we find ourselves on.

Sharing new ideas and experiences to help make the journey as smooth as possible.

Sorry have not been around much here been a mad time in my life it is good to be back reconnecting with you all.

I saw a post from JDinVirginia over in a different thread:

I would post more if I knew what to post about! I originally joined because I was trying to see if I could stop wearing diapers. In addition to seeing the urologist and saying yes to anything he offered me, I was struggling a lot with just -- how do you deal with it when your bladder is full and you're not within (seconds? minutes?) of a bathroom.

I was too shy to ask every question I had, here. Some of the questions I asked other male friends. I think when you grew up with a less-than-stellar ability to hold in your pee, maybe you don't always have the right tools or the right kind of connection with your body, to even be able to make use of the bladder control that the urologist is trying to give you. But regardless -- I definitely needed to talk about that stuff.

Now that I'm back in diapers again I just... don't really have any questions to ponder like that.

Honestly my experience with diapers is that there's not a lot of frustrations I need to vent or talk about, or a lot of new ideas or experiences either. Diapers just honestly work really well. I've experimented with a lot of kinds of external catheter type things. Lots of web sites sell various "systems" that are supposed to be better than diapers, but for me they've always been worse than diapers.

Re "what topics make good forum posts," I think good answers to that question have evolved over the years. Our participants now are very experienced with their personal incontinence challenges and have exchanged a lot of information with other incontinents. We no longer are "newbies."

Yes indeed. Experience is the best teacher, especially when it's somebody else's experience. This is one place where experience, trial and error are best shared among fellow sufferers. If there are not enough posts, so be it. I look forward to the day when incontinence is widely viewed as a normal part of life, no reason for emotion or ridicule. Until that day, sites like this, and folks like yourselves will be invaluable. Thank you.

And once you find products that work for you in terms of function/cost/comfort etc., you tend to stick with what you know (or at least I do).
