I was supposed to have my SPC surgery Thursday. I get up to pre op, he looks at my urine, tells me its "gnarly" and that I have an infection. He told me there was no way he was going to operate on me he said if he did, the infection would get in my blood and I would likely die. Great.

So I am on bactrim until we find out exactly what kind of infection I have and possibly do the surgery this Thursday. The bactrim seems to be working. My urine is clear again. Im just SO exhausted because my body is fighting so hard. I just want this stupid foley out.

I told someone the other day that I cant believe I am saying this but I wish I could just go back to managing with diapers. This is all just SO much. I knew one day my bladder would finally give out, I guess I just didn't prepare myself.

Thanks for listening.

Justej,

You must be enormously frustrated. I have had two UTIs and they are exasperating. And, as your surgeon said, they can be lethal. Foleys are especially problematic. Diapers are no picnic, but the worst they can do to you is give you diaper rash. Keep corresponding so we can offer what support we can.

Thanks so much, Patrick. It has been a whirlwind of emotions with a LOT of tears. My surgeon was running 4 hours behind on surgery day and when I got to pre op he told me there was no way he was operating.

I am not sure how much more of this I can take. I am not suicidal or anything. They ask every time I go into a procedure if I have a DNR and I think this time I am going to sign one. I just don't want to end off worse than I am now. My body has just taken such a beating....

Just checking in to offer support and inquire how you are coming along.
