Checking in

Thu Mar 23, 2023 9:00 pm

I haven't posted in awhile and things haven't gotten much better. I'm still having complications from my knee replacement surgery leaving me to be in my wheelchair when I go anywhere beyond my apartment. Luckily my landlord finally put in a ramp so getting in and out is easier. I have an aide 10 hours a day and she helps immensely. Ive somehow injured my left hand and so she has to help fasten diapers. It's just become the norm anymore. I have a disease called HS and was supposed to start an infusion last Tuesday but they couldn't get an IV in me and blew 2 veins. It's been decided that I'll be getting a port and I see a surgeon in the morning for a consult. It'll probably happen next week. I swear it seems like I can't catch a break. I plan on trying to be on the forums more often. Incontinence for me is old hat and just part of my daily life. It's the least of my worries.

The flow of the newly diagnosed incontinent folks into this site make old timers, for whom incontinence is more annoyance than crisis, especially valuable. We have been there, done that, and we have moved on. Being able to help others from that perspective makes our presence here useful for those whose incontinence seems strange and catastrophic.

Sorry to hear of your continued problems justej. Sometimes, all we can do is just keep on keeping on. But it is good to hear from you.

Thanks everyone. As an icing on the cake I have arthritis in my hands. Hopefully my upcoming infusions will help with that too because it's an anti-inflammatory drug. I get my port on Friday (found out today that the placement was approved). It feels like at 45 my body is falling apart

Arthur Itis can be one evil companion. And medical science has much to learn about him. The combination of IC and joint pain must make you eager for your infusion. Report back on how it went, and if it gave you any benefits.

Thanks Patrick. My port didn't happen on Friday because they couldn't get it in me. So I went this morning and it was successfully placed. I'm REALLY sore because I have 4 incisions on my chest and neck. They ended up going through the vein in my neck to get the port in. What an ordeal! And I was awake (but heavily drugged) throughout the whole thing. I was clothed except for my shirt so diapers were not an issue. Happy to be home with my cat. My first infusion is Thursday
