Happy New Year everyone.

Do you have a New Year's wish that relates to IC?

My wish is reasonably attainable - just to stay as "neat" as much as I can ("neat" being the opposite of "messy.")

What is yours?

Happy new year to all of you.
May the new year be a blessed and healthy one.

My wish for the new year is also to stay free of uti's.
I have started to take D-mannose and it seems to help

Add my best wishes for a healthy and prosperous new year for everyone here. For myself, I wish better cardiac health and improved UIC and FIC management skills.

Happy New Year to all. My wish for this year is to avoid incidents of gastroparesis and not have my IBS-d worsen, since I seem to have it pretty well controlled with diet.

Wayne,

As a fellow GPer, you have my empathy and respect. Holiday food is always a challenge for me. I need to eat enough to satisfy my hosts and my family physician, but not so much as to cause gastric upset. I've been dealing with a blockage and diarrhea for the past two days, which is frustrating. Thank heaven for diapers.

I've not had a formal diagnosis re GP, but with the discussions with others and the symptoms I am confident that this is the case (I will be discussing this and the IBS-d with the doc later). I have fortunately only experienced this about four times, so far over the last two years. But that last time was horrible because of the pain involved.

Holiday food is always a problem for me as a diabetic. My glucose readings have been higher than I like lately. I have to keep them down or it causes swelling of the retinas, resulting in poorer vision (and subsequent needles in the eye to medicate). But that last GP event put the fear into me. That 1 tall beer with a largish meal resulted in hours of suffering.

I do hope Patrick that your GP suffering is minimal this year!

Thank you for your support and concern. My GP diagnosis was confirmed by several gastric emptying studies. I manage by taking a stool softener (ducosate sodium) with every meal. Depending on the contents of the food, I can occasionally have a bowel release, which makes diapers essential items of clothing, and keeping a well stocked gym/diaper bag handy when I'm out and about also necessary.

Again, thank you.
