How often do you see doctors?

Tue Aug 31, 2021 4:13 am

My current disability payments are through insurance that I had with my last job. I am also on Medicaid. How often is normal to see your doctors with you are in chronic pain due bowel issue and have bowel, bladder incontinence with pain from that as well?

Right now other the my Physical therapist I only get every six months with my Gastroenterologist, Urology and Primary care.

That does not make since to me because noting is being done about the pain I am in.

That is difficult to answer as it depends, in part, with how severe and how serious the symptom or medical condition is.

I see my SCI rehab doctor for neurogenic bowel every 3 to 6 months. I saw her more frequently when first beginning a new therapy, etc.

Similarly, I see my physiatrist (spine, pelvis and pain management) every 3 to 6 months. I see her more frequently when a new medical issue fist arises, then less frequently once it becomes chronic. As my physiatrist may see me for diagnosis, pain management, epidural steroid injections, or sacro-iliac joint injections, I may average seeing her every 2 to 3 months.

I see my primary care doctor every 3 to 6 months.

I say my physical therapist two to three times a week for about 8 weeks. With a new prescription, additional therapy would have been available, but there are insurance limits.

It is unfortunate that insurance coverage can affect valid medical care needs.
