Post subject: | A Welcome to New Members of 2021 |
I see that this forum has added about 12 new members since the start of this year, yet only one new post. There are probably other new members from the end of last year. Allow me to extend my own welcome to all new members! And add my continued thanks to the site operator(s) and moderators. While there are a lot of incontinent (IC) veterans here with lots of good advice to share, don't be shy! Others like myself are recently incontinent as you might be. As a community, we have a common set of challenges. I have found this forum to be a great way to get solid advice about managing the "problem", without having to filter out AB/DL stuff. If you've read the many posts here then you already know that there is no one solution for all, since the IC problem varies considerably. It's also not only the management of the IC itself that matters. The stigma and mental health areas are equally important including acceptance. In my own experience having someone to discuss this with is helpful. While our spouse/family might be sympathetic, they often aren't as "invested" as we must be. We are the ones that directly suffer when IC management fails. We are the ones that ultimately need to be fully informed. So whether you're newly IC or have just discovering this site, then do get involved. Don't be embarrassed. Most of us began there. There's probably no such thing as a stupid question. Going from continent to incontinent plunges you into a new set of problems that most of us were never prepared for. Tell us what kind of IC you have. Have you had any doctor followup? Is there any hope for a cure? What are you doing in the mean time to "manage" the problem? How are you accepting the need for diapers/guards/pads? Is this affecting dating? Has your spouse/family been supportive of your efforts to manage? Or is your spouse pushing you hard to find a cure? Do you know what kinds of protection you need? Do you need protection 24/7? Are you confident when you leave the comfort of your home in your new form of protection? Has the pandemic added further challenges? There are lots of things that every newly IC person needs to know. Or perhaps you have advice of your own to share that might help others. Post away! |
