So, I posted an update about my visit with my Urologist and her recommendation to reach out to a colorectal surgent about interstim options. I have done some more research and do seem to find any indication of if interstim can be used to treat both bowel and bladder incontinence together. The other issue that I have with all of this is if it is going to stop the pain as well as what it will mean moving forward. I don't want another bandage-like I have been dealing with (Medication. And, if I am going to go with the interstim I need to know what life will look like with it. All in all, I am going to be seeing my PCP on the 2nd and will be talking about all this with him and my physical therapist. |

There are some pretty good posts from folks a few years back in here on this subject. Sounds like it worked well on a couple of them. Just search Interstim in the medications and treatments board. It's been discussed. Hope that is helpful. Lots of good info on this site. |

probably a candidate for this for bladder issues but unfortunately this would be useless for a surgery damaged rectal sphincter . at least that is what the colorectal surgeon told me. this surgeon not being the one who was apparently drinking while cutting. |

My issue is not from surgery per se. They do feel like the bowel surgery that I had affected my ability to have an effective bowel movement without medications so there is that, but they are not thinking that it could or would fix all of my issues so. My thing is that if it does not get me out of pain and improve my quality of life then it is no good. |

Only some Interstim devices will allow you to have an MRI, and some of them only at a field of 1.5T. I have had doctors who don't even consider my needing an MRI when they are discussing installing something in me. I learned the hard way that a prostate MRI at 1.5T takes more than 1 hr of lying there without moving! Hope things work out for you. Stan |

The plan was to talk to my Primary care and see what his thought process was but his office caught on fire the past weekend so all appointments have been canceled at this point. O, and my physical therapist is out sick. So, right now I am in limbo with doctor's visits.. |
