I’m having my first catheter change on Wednesday. While I’m not wearing full tape on briefs I still have to wear a pullup. There are two main reasons. 1) If I don’t empty through my flip flow valve in time I urinate through my urethra. And then sometimes the pull up leaks. 2) there is a discharge from the stoma site (that I’ve been told by others who have a SPC never goes away yet my doctor failed to mention it) and sometimes it leaks through bandages. (I currently have to use 3 gauze pads). I can’t seem to find a company to purchase flip flow valves through my insurance so I have to pay $25 for a box of five. And I’m still buying pull-ups although they are cheaper than buying tabbed briefs. I dunno. I’ve had this thing for a month now. I’m not gonna give up yet but right now I don’t know if it’s worth it.

I don't think there is one way that is the end all be all... I know from all your past posts you were really struggling with finding a product that worked for you without bad leaks... maybe pull-ups are not the answer but a lighter tab-style? I really hope you can find the right management needs for your body so you don't need to struggle anymore..

good luck!

My insurance company sent me a pack of tranquility atns to try because they cover those. The fit is absolutely terrible. The tapes suck.

And my catheter leaked all over the floor this morning. I’m not ok.

I regretted reading of your post-op difficulties. Can you negotiate with your insurance company for a more effective diaper that will better meet your needs? Cleaning up accidents is a common chore among us; however, your amputation must make it difficult indeed. Hang in there, and keep us informed.
