I am wondering is it acceptable to use diapers 24/7 as have both issues with bladder dysfunction (incontinence/retention/dryness) as well as Bowel dysfunction (Sever Constipation) due to issues at L3L4L5s1 Nerve impingement to the point I require Movicol 2 times daily and laxatab (laxative)10mg 3 times a week even then I require prune juice on top.

I also find myself severely dehydrated all the time so concerned of leaks to the point my Urea (Kidney) blood levels were a bit high and the continence nurse who did my assessment last year is concerned about hydration and kidneys.

Would it be acceptable to give up my so called "potty training" and just learn to accept and release into diapers and just accept it as my sporatic issues with dryness does my head in to the point I haven't been able to accept the incontinence as well as hope the spasms just fade away (the feeling of wetting one self but their is no leakage) also how does one do so

I hope I haven't offended anyone

I have discussed this with my Physical OT as well as Continence nurse contact (continence nurse contact just tells me to accept it and/or Self Cath which I have issues with as I have ASD as well as Bipolar (seroquel sedative at night to help me sleep) and essential Tremor in hands as well as my Physical OT has advised against the self cath due to my physical issues as well as risks of UTI and scaring

Hi

Wearing diapers 24/7 is not the end of the world the only issue is social stigma that I don’t care about anymore. Diapers are quite liberating they put me in control of my incontinence rather that it control me. Yes they take time to adapt to however you won’t regret it in the long run. You say that you get dehydrated which is not good wearing diapers helps a lot as you can see the colour of urine and increase the fluid (water) intake to pee clear I take on 2 litres a day. I keep a bladder diary to keep a record of everything that my advisor finds very helpful!

This website has lots of help about diapers etc. if you need it http://www.incontinentsupport.org/primer_index.php.

Don’t hesitate to reach out for advice!

In these strange times take care!

If you feel the need to dehydrate in order to maintain continence, you need to understand the risk to your overall health. If maintaining continence ties you to a bathroom, are you really doing yourself any favors? There are so many of us that the stigma's days are numbered, if that concerns you. Good luck and keep us posted.

With all the heart issues I have now, my electrophysiologist and cardiologist recommend that I drink 4 liters of water per day. You can pretty well guess what that has done to my incontinence. My 2 diapers a day has increased to 3 sometimes 4. I wear pin on cloth diapers at night, and they are wet more often. Staying hydrated is important to the function of the heart, and many other parts of the body. If drinking more water helps my heart, needing to wear diapers is a minimal inconvenience. I've read that people with heart failure are over 50% more likely to have incontinence issues. It is what it is.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my question regarding printed diapers. I am offended by your statement "they are here". I'm assuming you are referring to me as one of the adbl crowd. I assure you, I am not. You don't know me at all. I have a variety of health issues the newest being heart failure. I read that over 50% of heart failure patients suffer from incontinence. I have tried some products from adbl sites, but only the all white ones. They have some excellent diapers. In fact, the bambino all white diaper is the most comfortable diaper I have found, and I have tried many from sites like Northshore, xpmedical, Magic Medial, and others. I was. just curious if anyone has tried the printed ones, and if they are as good as the institutional white ones. After all, the isles in box stores are full of printed boxers and boxer briefs. So?????????? I understand that there probably are members here that belong to the abdl crowd. There names lend one to believe so. However, it might be wise to know for sure, before you respond to a post. Not sure how one would do that, however.

I'm with dp66 on this. Let's not be overly sensitive.

I am not ABDL but have ordered super-absorbent diapers from several ABDL vendors. I ordered these because of their absorbency and quality.

These all had plain white shells. Some, like the Rearz Inspire +InControl or the Inspire Elite now are beginning to be available from mainstream vendors.

I was glad when Northshore Care began offering its MegaMax in colors. Hospital white is boring. :( Incontinence is bad enough as it is. The blue MegaMax is an excellent choice because, if you frequently wear jeans, they blend right in if a bit accidentally pokes above the waistline.

I could really go for diapers with plastic shells with bright tie-dye, paint splotches, or Lamborghinis (yeah - Lamborghinis). :D
