Hi all.
Well, another bladder infection... It seems like each infection is more painful, lasts longer, and results in further loss of control overall.
Diverticulosis (diverticulitis now, the doctor believes), as diagnosed by another colonoscopy, is another issue that I’m dealing with. Very painful and is causing very unpredictable bowel issues.
Last, and most concerning is a pancreas issue. Latest blood tests are still out, but expected soon. In the meanwhile, I get to sit on the edge of my seat, and in a moderate amount of pain through to my back. I have only the pain symptoms so far that are connected with the pancreas issue (thank God!) so hoping the tests come back negative.
I’m currently taking prednisone for gastric symptoms and an a broad spectrum antibiotic.
Thanks for listening.

Issues such as you described can really complicate incontinence management. Here are a hope and a prayer that the antibiotic you were prescribed will soon take hold and begin to make your life easier. Keep us informed.

Hi all
Thank you all for your words of encouragement and kindness.
Apparently, as of later this afternoon, the lab is growing a culture from the urine test that supposedly will better define my latest infection for treatment. For now I’m still uncomfortable from diverticulitis and / or pancreas issue(s). My understanding is that the last blood test results still are not in (!!!) that would rule out the pancreas, which is making me very anxious and depressed.
It’s not that I needed to lose any weight, but I have been lately due largely to the intestinal problems and my not wanting to eat much. I’m barely 5 feet tall and now under 120 pounds and dropping! My clothes are becoming large on me.....

Ellyn,

Believe me, I do understand most of what you are enduring. I too am a skinny runt, with an intestinal disease that can cause starvation. I am not in as much pain as you, but I still hurt, and I vomit from time to time, usually in my sleep. That said, pancreas trouble can be trouble indeed, and diverticulitis can be excruciatingly painful, and it can also cause bowel incontinence. Here is a hope for negative results: that your diverticulitis will resolve, and your pancreas will behave.

Thank you!
The latest...
My doctor called this AM (Good Friday).
The culture came back as a staff infection, apparently specific enough for him to order a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvis, ASAP.
I’m awaiting a time now.

Hey Ellyn,
I keep fingers crossed, that things went good for you. And if not - maybe it’s a cold comfort but my mother lived now for 26 years with pancreas and diabetic problems and she’s meanwhile 81... It’s manageable with the right diet and some drugs. In fact some when with 60 she was really tired about the doc’s and she learned to cook in a new way with 61, using organic foods, low carb and suggar reduced recipes and make it to bring her suggar down to a point that there’s still is no need for injection. And the best is - her cakes (meanwhile with stevia) are still damed good :)

So relax you may find a away. Maybe I have to say this also to myself but anyway...
