Hello!
As some of you know, I'm in the process of founding a nonprofit geared toward providing premium products to those in need as well as incontinence education to reduce stigma. I've pondered things quite a bit and relized that CARE, CARING, and another name i thought up recently Digitial Dignity were already taken or sound similar to organizations already in existence. and the origional name iidea DIGNDY Diapers given to the Needy, raised criticism from my partner on the east coast who is a fierce disability advocate. So, I thought up a few interesting ideas using a thersaurus. Feel free to vote on which option would help our mission. Also feel free to add your own in the comments.

Peace out!

Rob

Rob,

Sounds like a great service you will be providing. Please know that the word "Dignity" has been trademarked in many health related categories already and you could see a challenge from one or more companies. This includes Hartmann Inc. that makes the Dignity brand of adult incontinence supplies.

Sincerely,
Adam

Thanks Adam! Yes i know dignity has been trademarked as a brand by itself.. but surely its just a word in a phrase if I were to say Shield of Dignity? Can you think of any name that hasnt already been taken that would fit this mission statement?

To provide premium incontinence products to those that need them for a decent quality of life, which are not provided by Medicaid
To supply incontinece products to those that make too much to qualify for Medicaid but still cannot adequately afford supplies
To educate about the wide variety of incontinence products available, encouraging recipients to try premium brands or cloth diapers they may not otherwise have considered

The way trademark law usually works is that if you don't challenge all related uses, then you can lose your trademark rights. So even if they want to let it slide as they see no risk from your use, usually their lawyers will tell them they have no choice but to challenge it or they risk losing all exclusive rights to that term.

You may want to contact Hartmann and ask for permission to use that term. They may allow you to use it for little or no cost since it's for non-profit use. This protects you and also protects their rights to that trademark.
