According the WebMD, "Low Vitamin D Levels Are Tied to Incontinence." It says that low vitamin D may contribute to pelvic floor disorders in women. These disorders include urinary and fecal incontinence. Apparently vitamin D3 strengthens your pelvic muscles and connective tissue. I read one testimonial from a woman who had light leakage that it was cured after 4 months of 5000 IU of Vitamin D3 per day.

Has anyone tried this? I just ordered D3 in hopes that it will help or at least prevent the problem from worsening.

Vitamin C makes the urine more acid, and this helps preventing uti.

Optimist, I'm a former chronic UTI sufferer and I've been taking 3 g Vitamin C for 5 years with D-Mannose to prevent UTIs. Only had 1 UTI in 5 years which is a record for me! I highly recommend Vitamin C with D-Mannose to prevent UTIs.

Talking about vitamin C. I started taking one per day the ones from boots chemist that fiz up in a glass of water when I was first catheterised five years ago. In that time I have only had one cold and that started on the day my mum died. I used to get at least three colds a year almost always started with one for new years eve. To only have one in five years is incredibly good. I don't know how helpful it is with UTI infection because I have had a few of those but to prevent colds it's well worth it.

May I offer a word of caution? Vitamin(e) C is water soluble, so any excess is flushed out of the system by the kidneys. The D vitamin(e)s are fat soluble, which means that in excess quantities they can build up to toxic levels quickly.

Not sure how vitamin d3 helps incontinence. I had to take it for a month before and 2 months after my leg reconstruction surgery to help my bones. Sure didnt help my incontinence but mine is neurogenic so your milage may vary.

I've been reading more about Vitamin D3 and apparently it is nourishing to the whole urinary system (including other benefits). Someone mentioned it is fat-soluble, which is true, so you can also end up with side effects if you have too much.

Speaking of UTIs, several articles indicate a link between Vitamin D deficiency and UTIs.
"Vitamin D supplementation may prevent urinary tract infections
A five year-long randomized controlled trial (RCT) discovered that vitamin D supplements helped prevent UTIs. Research has shown that vitamin D helps fight infection by increasing the production of antimicrobial peptides. These peptides assist the body in destroying the cell walls of viruses and bacteria."

Also, Vitamin D deficiency may increase bladder cancer risk.
"Five out of the seven studies found that the risk of bladder cancer goes up when vitamin D levels are low. Higher vitamin D levels also correlated with better survival and outcomes in people with bladder cancer."
