Have any of you tried this product? Or pumpkin seed extract and soy (the active ingredients)? There are some studies to back up its claims. I just ordered a couple bottles so I'll update you all on how it works once I start taking it. "Pumpkin Seed Oil Extracted From Cucurbita maxima Improves Urinary Disorder in Human Overactive Bladder" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4032845/ "Water-soluble pumpkin seed extract exerts an anabolic (tissue-building) effect on the pelvic floor muscles via several mechanisms. By inhibiting the aromatase enzyme, it may make more testosterone available to strengthen the pelvic muscles. Secondly, this water-soluble pumpkin seed fraction binds to the androgen receptor on pelvic muscle cells, thus inducing a strengthening effect. For the urination muscles to relax when the bladder is full, nitric oxide is required. The dual mechanisms of strengthening pelvic floor muscles, while increasing nitric oxide synthesis, help explain how water-soluble pumpkin seed extract alleviated urinary incontinence in three separate studies on aging women. A study of 39 incontinent females (aged 55-79 years) using water-soluble pumpkin seed and soy isoflavone extracts was conducted over a six-week period. After six weeks of using this supplement, daily incontinent episodes averaged an astounding 79% decrease." http://www.lifeextension.com/magazine/2 ... ce/page-01 |

That is not a scientific study or medical paper, so I would not pay attention to it. Plus, it is 10 years old. --John |

In addition to what john said, I'm very wary of herbal remedies. Most aren't approved by the FDA and are often do not go through extensive clinical trials. As was mentioned the article is 10 years old and seeing as there aren't recent reports it makes me think that it really wasnt beneficial. |

I suppose you're right - I shouldn't put too much faith in herbal remedies. And there aren't too many follow up studies. I saw the numerous positive reviews on Amazon and I thought it was worth a try. I'm still waiting for the shipment but I will update once I've been taking it for a while. I know D-Mannose is a supplement that is effective for me in preventing UTIs and I found it on Amazon. |
