So Monday at 10:30 I'll be taught how to self cath. I posted on another message board and people said you just get used to it. I hope so. I have some pull ups that I will be wearing in case of leaks. I did research and I think I know what kind of catheter I want to use. I'm hella nervous but hoping for the best. |

when you say self cath, are you talking about intermittent catheterization, foley catheter, or condom catheter? I have never had to do intermittent, but I have tried the other two. Foley didn't work for me as it felt like agony. I don't know if I was using too big or too small, but my body wanted it out. Same thing happened at the Urologist during my urodynamics. The catheter shot off and I was in a lot of pain. Condom catheters I tried for a while when my wife and I were trying to get pregnant and I wanted to try to give my equipment a cool down. I could never figure out how to get it to work correctly. . . between the pressure and the lack of good adhesive, more often than not, the urine would not go down, but rather blow off the condom. I tried that for about three weeks. The wet pants were not fun... Still, some people have better results. I hope you are one of them! |
