I was reading another board viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1559&start=20 and I'm questioning about the effect of stress and anxiety on adult bedwetting. My elderly mother-in-law has been living with us for 4 years. She can be a domineering and controlling person at times, so much so that it's like I've been married to 2 women my whole 21 yrs of marriage. She has Parkinson's Disease, limited mobility (uses walker, wheelchair), wakes us sometimes at 2 a.m. because she's cold, has a serious stubborn streak, you get the idea. On top of that I am working 2 jobs to pay for our daughter's (only child) college education. I get about 6-7 hrs of sleep a night. I know stress is often a driver of child bedwetting which I never experienced. Now I don't wet often at all (very rare actually) but I'm wearing protection most nights cause I just think "what if". MOL is moving out to assisted living come May 1 or May 15th and I'm wondering if the wetting issues and fear of wetting will go away once she's out of the house? Maybe psychological issues are driving the problem more than prostate issues like I've been thinking up until now? G |

Time will tell whether your bedwetting disappears after your mother-in-law goes to old folks home. Nevertheless, you should see a doctor about your bedwetting. Adult bedwetting, especially in a person who didn’t experience it as a child, is unusual and is very often a symptom of some other physical ailment. Get it checked out. |

I have been to a urologist. I do have an enlarged prostate for which I take Tamsuloson (Flomax). I used to dribble a lot during the day but the meds have resolved that almost completely. I'm more thinking though that stress may be disturbing my sleep habits and maybe urine production. I don't sleep as soundly as I did 4 years ago and perhaps therefore the hormone that limits urine production isn't getting produced in the same amounts as a result. The lack of sound sleeping may be due to the stress? |
