Hi all, I've had nighttime near misses periodically over the last year but no floods until last night. Would have soaked the bed if not for the diaper I had on. I was dreaming I was urinating and I did it for real. This has happened before. I wore a new product last night called Livdry. UPS delivered a case last night and I decided to try it out. I had tried the sample they sent me last week but my initial thoughts about it were inconclusive. Here's my review: - product is from Japan. Japanese writing all over the bags - product not packed in unmarked boxes. "Livdry briefs" prominent on the outside package - velcro like tapes are extremely long, maybe even 4 inches or more. there are 2 separate sections on each tape that attach to the front of the product - tapes do not rip from the back of the brief - tapes do not come untaped. They stick - The manufacturer recommends that the bottom tapes be aimed sharply upward and the upper tapes be aimed sharply downward, creating a criss-cross with the bottom tapes. This taping arrangement seems to work - I didn't use it with the recommended booster - maybe my impression is wrong but although very absorbant, wicking isn't super fast, not as fast as the seni brand I got from xpmedical - the parts of the tape with the velcro are fairly stiff and if you can't get them fully on the front of the brief, they will dig into your leg - still debating whether to order the inserts. if I was any bigger the small size wouldn't fit me around the legs. Not sure that the insert wouldn't make the brief not fit me. G |

I had the exact same "pee dream" just two nights ago and woke up with a soaked, but not leaking, diaper the next morning. My night time continence is very unpredictable and although most nights I don't even have to get, up there are those times when I will wake up having to go. Then of course there are those (thankfully few) nights a month when I will have a "peeing dream" with the same results as you had. I now use a folded cotton cloth inside of a quality (Abena/Molicare) pull-up with a Leakmaster PUL pant as my night time protection and it has kept me completely leak free on the nights I have dripped/flooded. The good thing about this combination is that it still allows me to use the toilet normally if I do wake up. When this all started over three years ago I fought having to wear protection to bed but once I did my night time anxiety level dropped to zero and I started sleeping better than ever. In addition, It sounds like this Livdry diaper may work just as well as my pull-ups for night time use. Since it's fastened with velcro it would be fairly easy to un-tape, use the toilet normally, and re-tape if you happen to wake up before peeing. |

I didn't notice any directions on the package it came in, so I'm glad you outlined the process above. Thanks! |

Here's my thoughts after using Livdry for weeks or so - not had a single tape rip from the back of the diaper - velcro really sticks. Since I don't every night I've been able to wear the same diaper for 2 nights at a time. Velcro never has come loose - The edge of the bottom tape does dig into my leg but half a square of folded toilet paper underneath resolves that - comfortable - Absorbs a ton ***. I didn't believe the manufacturer when they said the small size holds 60 oz. I'm believing it now. - caveat: the back of the product absorbs very little compared to the middle. If liquid flows to the back, the product will likely feel wet against your skin - Wicking speed isn't as bad as I first thought Conclusion: hands down, best product I've tried (cloth or plastic) *** I am notorious for not being able to get back to sleep if I get up to use the bathroom. Too many times I've gotten up to use the can at 1 or 2 a.m. and I'm up until I leave for work at 5:30. My mind is too active I guess. This leaves me falling asleep at the wheel at 3 pm when I leave work. Even if I have the urge to go in the night, I try to hold it and just go back to sleep which usually works but if the urge is strong I use the product for its intended purpose. I'm awake for a few minutes then instead of hours. This is how I know the Livdry absorbs so well. ******************* As a side note, church on Sunday was a challenge as I was dribbling for much of the morning (this doesn't happen often since I started taking Tamsulosin). I'm a Eucharistic Minister (I serve communion at Mass) so if not for the diaper I had on I would have had wet marks on my dress pants for sure. I have almost no need for protection in the daytime but I usually wear a diaper to church because I've had troubles there before and I'm always dressed in a suit. If you're wondering why I don't use a men's guard it's because the guard moves around and shifts position in my underwear. A diaper doesn't bunch as bad in the crotch and is more comfortable. |
