Hi all,

I thought I'd say hi and introduce myself before joining in the conversation.

I'm a 40 year old Brit who has been battling incontinence for many years and recently 'fessed up to my GP. A referral to my local Continence Service had me diagnosed with OAB/urge, nocturia/nocturnal enuresis (usually the former as I wear heavy duty 'diapers') and I am now provided with iD Expert Slip Supers (PE backed) which are the best slips since Tena decided to stop making ones that work!

I recently told my family who already knew, having seen my 'kit' over the years and was happy how supportive they've been.

The only issue that bothers me is as a type 1 diabetic I'm prone to thrush. My continence adviser gave me a prescription for 3M Cavillon cream which I pick up tomorrow.Though I'll need to nuke it with Canesten first beforehand. She assures me it will work. I bloody hope so... Anyone here used it?

This isn't a site for politics but with my various long term health issues I am so glad we have a National Health Service over here. When I hear what my yank buddies have to pay I wince on their behalf.

Anyhoo, pleased to meet y'all and looking forward to getting great advice here!

Welcom to the group. I’m Canadian, and we also are grateful to have a publicly funded health-care system. I have to buy my own diapers, but all my other medical expenses are paid for. Because of my age (I’m 75), my prescriptions are also paid for.

Hi Sarah1 and Inconinmiss!

Thanks for your warm welcome and nice to "meet" you both

It's great that you are open to talking about this topic (though it's a bit odd "we" (as a species) don't. I'm over my initial but long lasting embarrassment and embrace the protection, comfort and (especially) the nights where I don't get up 4 or 5 times a night to trudge to the 'bog' - now I sleep and it's bliss!

My issues tend to happen in the penile area (bloody balanitis!!!) so alas we can't share tips :? but will always be happy to chat to you both about any issues.

I wish you both well and thanks for your welcome :)

Inconinmiss?

Here all medical needs are paid for. Is there a reason why diapers aren't included? Surely as important as, say, anti-depressants, etc...

I've paid into our National (Health) Insurance all my life but feel a lil' bit guilty as I cost so much to the "state" these days!

Greetings Sean!

Welcome to the group! I echo the previous that you will find some great support and information, and will likely also find new friends. The support I've gotten from this group has been immeasurable as I learn to deal with my incontinence.

I, too, have nocturnal enuresis, and also neurogenic bladder, urge incontinence, and OAB. I am diapered 24/7 since this past September, and have accepted that this is how I will be the rest of my life. Another thing we have in common is balanitis. While I am not diabetic, I am prone to rashes there, and over the counter diaper rash creams don't work. My urologist has prescribed Halobetasol, which works exceptionally well and very quickly.

Good luck on this journey so many of us are taking.

Another warm welcome! I get a feeling I might like this place!!!

Thanks for the tip. Never heard of it but Uncle Google tells me it's called Halovate over here ("further proof we are 2 nations separated by the same language" - I think that was Churchill but when in doubt go to Churchy!!! :P )

I get good treatment for the yeasty-peril but nothing to prevent it as of yet. I'm seeing my continence nurse on Wednesday (Monday might now) and will check with her.

Thanks for the advice and the welcome 5bugles!

Welcome Sean,
I am 21 and deal with off and on issues with OAB/urge IC and nocturnal enuresis so can relate although it sounds like my issues aren't as severe. Just wanted to say welcome to the group

I appreciate your welcome GG! At least at half my age you might not skirt the issue and avoid the right advice like I did when I was your age back in WW1! We lived in less "open" times back in the dark ages, or the 90s as most folk called them then (only partially in jest - it looks like we've both found the resource we need)

Cheers bruv! and thanks for your welcome 8)

No prob also I saw on your signature you said you have issues with plastic pants cracking I find PUL pants work really well as a diaper cover to both prevent leaks and odors as well as being a little breathable
