I've been struggling with feeling like I am the only one around my age to suffer from incontinence. I know there are others out their you suffer from it. I was wondering what other young adults on here are struggling with this. I am 20 here and suffer from nocturnal enuresis rather frequently and have started having some urge incontinence in the day that seems to be worsening. I was diagnosed with OAB when I was younger.

Welcome to our wet corner of the world. You are far from alone with your problem. My incon issues began at age 36 and I'm now 59. You will find a number of others here who are in your age range, and others quite a bit older who's incontinence began at your age or younger. We all manage to find ways to manage our issues and get on with life. We support each other, listen to the occasional rant and offer advice when asked. Mostly it's about support.

don't feel bad i was 28 when all my issues started. I had a massive l4-5 herniation that started out as Cauda Equina Syndrome the nerve damage had caused some serious damage to me pelvic floor and cased early onset ED. so your not alone if you ever want to chat hit me up I am on Facebook or skype

My incontinence started when I was 26. I was so embarrased that I tried to hide it, and it took five years until I told my GP.

My incontinence is the result of a surgical misadventure when I was 14 years. I'm 75 now. So it's been a long haul, but I've managed to lead a fairly normal personal and professional life despite incontinence. The surgical missadventure consisted of excessive bleeding after what was supposed to be routine abdominal surgery, followed by a severe infection. I ended up spending three months in hospital. I eventually recovered completely except for the fact that my bladder control was severely and permantely impaired.

I had to wear diapers during my first three years of high school. However, I was a fanatic about doing Kegel exercises (although they weren't called that in those days). Thus by my last year in high school and throughout my time in university, I was generally able to go without a daytime diaper provided that I was in situations where I could be sure of being able to get to a bathroom in a short time when the need arose. Things went on like that until I was in my forties, at which time my daytime problems worsened once again. I've now been back in diaper 24/7 for about thirty years.

Needing to wear a diaper is a major nuisance because you have to plan your life in a way that enables you to keep an adequate supply of dry diapers on hand at all times wherever you are and whatever you're doing. Nevertheless, it's still possible to do anything that you need to do and almost anything that you might want to do. So for the most part, incontinence is only a serious disability if you let it be.
