hey everybody,
When I went to college I weighed 86 lb and had fattened to 98 when I graduated. I've been around 125 for a long time and as high as 128. over the last few weeks I've lowered my calorie consumption and I'm down to 117 and my goal is to get down to 110.
FYI that I'm a stomach sleeper. Until I started losing weight I woke up at least once every night to use the can and sometimes twice. I'm noticing that I'm sleeping through the night more often and I wonder if the reason why is the weight loss. Perhaps the bladder has more room to expand now? From what I've read fat storage in middle-aged and older men is often "visceral fat" which is fat surrounding the internal organs and maybe this visceral fat limits bladder capacity. I suppose the factor could be less stool or urine produced due to less calories consumed.
At any rate, been having some good nights.

G

being overweight is a strongly correlated condition with incon...likely not the cause for most people but definitely an aggravating factor.

I'm trying to slim down too. I know that all that extra weight puts added pressure onto the bladder.

My issue is just the opposite. My GI tract is partially paralyzed. My family doc and my GI specialist never tire of reminding me that starvation is a threat that I must take seriously. In adulthood my weight has been as low as 110 lbs (55 kgs); currently I fight to keep it above 135 lbs.. Visceral (abdominal) fat should be avoided, if possible. Although I do not ask strangers, or friends, for that matter, if their weight makes them incontinent, just looking at some folks makes that an obvious question.
