LOOKING FOR REAL USERS OF DEPEND

We are looking for real people, ages 40-60, who live with severe bladder incontinence, for a non-union commercial. Looking for people who want to share their inspiring real stories of taking control back from incontinence.
Our candidates should be bright, relatable, personable, outgoing, passionate, young at heart, and very open to talking about their experience and any hobbies, interests or activities you are involved in. Does not have to be a current Depend user, but preferably someone who has used and had a positive experience with Depend products.

If chosen, you will need to be available for an in-person or Skype interview sometime over the next 3 weeks. The callback will be on 7/10 or 7/11 in NYC or via Skype. The shoot will be the week of August 6th, location TBD.
Rate (if selected) is $500 for each shoot day, $5000 for the buyout per video.

Do your family and friends know about your bladder leakage, and if so, do you have someone in your life who may be willing to be interviewed on the topic?

Have you stopped doing a particular activity or avoided due to your incontinence?

I thought we weren't supposed to know it was depend for a few weeks-months ?

Just a thought, any icon with severe issues is not going to use depends. That's like asking Fiat drivers for experience carrying a container.

Tom, I think you lost me on your analogy. However I see and agree with your point. Maybe a better way to look at it would be to ask for people that suffer from incontinence severe enough that required protection like Depend and found it to give them the confidence to get back out there and back to normal living.
I have seen the stories Mary is speaking of and they do a huge service to chip away at the stigma and help people know they are not alone. I am truly hoping she gets a few people to volunteer to help out but I also understand how hard it is to out ones self.

I agree though. I'm not sure depend makes any products for severe urinary incontinence. At best they make products for moderate urinary incontinence.

I have to agree Spartan. I have jokingly called Depend the marijuana of incontinence. It's the gateway product.

LOL that would be good if there products fit me... i started out with the depends overnights briefs... with them focusing on the underwear and women's products they just down work for me... I gonna wear a product to help me get back to like i am sure the hell goan make sure it will not leak out on me, esp if i am at church or my volunteer job at the shelter...

I agree with the aforementioned perspectives on Depends. I think they are affective for stress incontinence and slight dribbles, but they are next to useless for sufferers of urge incontinence.

Severe incontinence sufferers won't use that product, so a commercial featuring depends would be disengenous

To be fair to the Depends firm- they have done more to normalize IC than anyone else. I like their adverts- it shows everyday people have these problems, not just the aged. I just wish their products were better for my needs.

When the Depend product first became available (1984), it was aggressively marketed to the 60+ crowd (both men and women) who had led an active lifestyle, but who had become homebound due to the onset of urinary incontinence. This market was targeted to the exclusion of everyone else. I was 33 years old in 1984 and urge incontinent. At the get-go and for many years thereafter, it never occurred to me that Depend would be useful for someone my age. When I reached 60 and developed diabetes and had a stroke, both my day and night urinary dysfunction got much worse. Ironically, Depend was not sufficient for my needs.

Rope might remember that a couple of years ago Kimberly-Clark (the makers of Depend) hosted a roundtable discussion for the purpose of obtaining input from users of incon products. When asked when and if they planned to produce a high-capacity diaper, they candidly replied that they had no such plans in the near future or ever, as they planned to focus their attention on the light incontinence market. If they're now coming around to realize that there is a market for a high-capacity product that's readily available on store shelves, it's a good thing, although somewhat late in coming, IMO.

I see a problem with getting "real people" to put their face on TV and coming out as incontinent. Also, would there be "clinical trials" to determine how well the product works so that actual incontinence suffers could honestly back them? Lastly, "Mary" has asked for "a recent photo". I get it that looks matter on TV and everywhere, however, are any good-looking, high-power people really going to visually out themselves as incontinent? I'm not sure where "Mary" is really going with this.
