I'm wondering if anyone in this group has experienced similar issues. I know those that have read any of my posts know of my recent prostatectomy and diverticulotomy. It has been 7 weeks since my surgery. I had my catheter in for 2 weeks, removed, and then replaced the next day due to a great deal of retention. I am experiencing incontinence, but wondering if it will be permanent. I did have incontinence issues before my surgery. There are some days where I feel little urge to pee, and days where I can void and not really sense that I am. Also, there are times I feel kind of a pain/throbbing feeling at the end of my penis. At times, when I haven't had much of an urge I think I could maybe could go without wearing a diaper, but then I chicken out, and put one on. Anyway, I thought I would ask if others have experienced similar experiences. I have my follow up appointment with my surgeon next Monday. I'm not sure what he will suggest. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

dp66,

Although my experience is not similar to yours, I too have had several surgeries to that part of my anatomy. Discuss your difficulties with your doctor. My uneducated guess is that the procedures have messed with your nerves in that region. They sure messed with mine, although I'm alive today because of those surgeries.

dp, after the cath is taken out you could be incontinent for weeks, months, years or for the rest of your life. It is a crap shoot. I was told 3-6 months, then a year then two. I have been in diapers for 14 years. The first two/three years I never had any feeling of wetting at all. Each of us had a different doctor, procedure and complications or whatever. You just can't call how the future will be. Best of luck. Papa
