I have finally convinced several urologists of my choice to have my prostate removed. After multiple tests and procedures, I want it over with. So, on April 11 I will have the surgery. My urologist says my incontinence will probably be worse since my bladder is a mess...his words. I retain a great deal due to having a very large bladder with diverticulum. I hope I'm making the right decision.

I wish you the best of luck with the prostate surgery. At some point, will you also need to have the diverticulum corrected?

Nothing has been discussed about the diverticulum. I'm thinking/hoping that after the prostate surgery I will not be retaining as much...probably a wait and see issue. Thanks for the encouragement.

Add my best wishes for an uneventful surgery, a speedy recovery, and a firm resolution about what to do with that diverticulum. Keep us informed.

That's good to hear. I know first hand how difficult it can be to get a urologist to do what the tests all say they should anyways.
