Post subject:  leaking

so with both the confidry and the atns, whenever i flood my pul pants are wet on the inside. twards the front of the pants.
its never enough that it leaks through the pul pants, but its enough to get them wet.
i dont have enough pul pants to change each time this happens, so right now im just wiping them down with a wipe and drying them with a hankie.
what could i do to stop this? it happens each time and since most of the time im flooding its becoming annoying.
when i get paid on wednesday i ordering a bunch of pul pants because right now i only have 3, but i dont know that i want to change (take off my pants, etc.) either especially if im in a public restroom.
thanks

Justj, sorry about your leaks. Yes, it is absolutely o.k. to just wipe out the inside of the PUL pants and continue wearing them.

Re the diaper leaking, is this happening each time you pee or only after two or more wettings? Flooding can stress most diapers. After you pee, are you immediately walking around, etc., or are you able to remain still for a while? Some very good diapers are slow absorbers. After flooding it is best (if the circumstances permit) for you to stand in place for a minute or more to give the diaper time to absorb much of the pee before you begin walking. After the diaper already is wet, the next time you pee it will take even longer for the diaper to absorb the liquid.

Are you using a booster pad in your diaper? They can be a big help if sized right. However, too large a booster pad can swell up and cause more pee to overflow the internal standing leak guards.

hi john -

it happens only after one wetting. the front of the diaper is wet and the pul pants are wet. the sides seem to be ok (i was having trouble before with that. guess i inadvertantly fixed it)
im not using a booster because it seems the ones i have are too big (the lady at xp told me id need a large booster pad for large atns but i think they are too big because they go over the leak guards. i can fit them in the leak guards but it takes some work)

i dont think this should happen after only one wetting. its like it leaks through the front of the diaper. maybe its my floods i dont know.
its frustrating though. for now ill keep wiping the pul pants off.

incidentally after i posted this the confidry didnt do it. ive got atns on today so we will see how that goes.

Don't blame the PUL pants, they are doing what they re supposed to. The problem is with your ATNs- they leak. Either find something better, or use inserts to improve the absorbency.

I know your insurance has you stuck using the atns. They are what's failing you, so id recommend you look into using boosters with them.

I personally use baby diapers as they are very well performing while also being very cheap. My flooding isn't as bad as it used to be, but when it was I would cup the baby diaper over me, then diaper up as I normally would. This makeshift cupping was able to absorb the brunt of my flooding, while slowly leaking into my adult diaper (which greatly decreases the chance for leaks). It also would redirect the rest of my pee towards the center of the diaper, again reducing any leaks. In fact, I still do this for overnight as I am a side sleeper. It's a system I've found works really well. You should give it a try, it may work for you too.

wetdad - definately NOT blaming the pul pants. they are saving my clothes from getting wet.
i have no other option but to use the atns. its what my insurance provides and i cant afford to get premium diapers as im on disability.

im using a booster right now that i got from northshore. i thought they were too big but i think i got them to work. only time will tell

Justj,

Re using booster pads, you already are aware that they should not overlap the internal standing leak guards. Ideally, the boosters should be a little narrower than the space between the leak guards in order to leave some "gutter" space on either side between the booster and the leak guards so that the urine can come in direct contact with the diaper's absorbent mat while, at the same time, being absorbed by the booster pad itself. Also, if the leak guards are not very tall and the booster expands too much in thickness, that also can contribute to urine flowing over the leak guards and tending to leak. This is more likely to occur with an inexpensive diaper and a really absorbent booster pad (some can expand up to four times their dry thickness).

i dont know what to do. the booster is too big and i now have a case of them because i went with what the lady at northshore told me i needed. i wasted 60 dollars and am stuck with boosters that wont work.
i hate this. i hate incontinence. i hate i when i trust someone to tell me what i need and it is clearly not it.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH i just want to scream.

so i called northshore. they are sending me samples of the small and the medium. and then ill do an exchange for whatever size fits.
so it will all work out (as it always does) i just have to be patient. which isnt my strong suit.
