hey all. just wanted to pop in to say hi.
im still recovering from my leg surgery that i had last may.
i see my doctor on tuesday for a followup. we will see how long i have to be in a boot.

my dry days are pretty numbered, if at all.
i still have a boatload of tranquility atns from my insurance company. i change everytime i wet, so they work out okay. i havent had the bunching up problem, but i usually only wear them at home and wear the confidrys when im out.

im going through a severe depression. it hasnt been pretty....but wanted to say hi and i hope everone is well.

You need to explain this to your doctor. It is important to begin working on this issue, as it can really mess with your quality of life. The fixes are not quick, but they are worth all the effort it takes. Please tell your doctor and begin a plan. Reach out to me privately if you wish- I can give you advice as one who is out the other side, and it did take a while. You will be in my prayers, Justej.

'ej, I'm sorry that you're having depression. If you haven't already done so, please discuss it with your doctor at your upcoming appointment. IMO, you should be working through it with a mental health professional, especially since you have some other issues in your life that most of the rest of the population can't even begin to understand. I'm sure that your outlook and quality of life will improve. Also, I think that if you were to take an "it-is-what-it-is" approach to incontinence and fully utilize the resources available to you, it won't be such an insurmountable obstacle in your life. For example, I don't dwell on who/what I was before my stroke. I simply live every day by drinking deeply from the cup that's offered me, i.e., my relationship with my husband, friendships, my ability to produce an effective work product, social opportunities, etc. Am I correct in my understanding that your leg issue is temporary and, other than being incontinent, you are in good health?

W.

hey guys. sorry for the late reply. been offline for a bit.
the depression has lifted. i have bipolar so i have my ups and downs.

wetdad: thanks for the offer to pm. i may take you up on that.

wetters: other than a weak immune system, mrsa, incontinence, weak bones, and the leg im healthy. :D

im starting to accept the incontinence. although i went on a trip and didnt bring any diapers with me out of embarassment and had lots of wet underwear. luckily ill be home tomorrow. ive been having trouble sleeping so im not worried about wetting the bed.

i just have to freaking get over wearing diapers! im working on it.

I think of my diapers as simply my underwear. They're in the same class as canes, eye glasses, hearing aids, elbow braces and dental braces. Glad to have you back.

Thanks patrick. I just wish they were as acceptable as those things. As with any onset disability there comes acceptance. I am getting there. Its weird Ill be accepting one day and then the next I will be like "Im fine. I dont need to wear" then I get the rude awakening that yes, I do. The denial can be strong sometimes.

My trip was kinda crummy, so I will be glad to be home.

Hi Justej

welcome back,

As Patrick stated just think of diapers as your normal underware , We need diapers to keep our pants and beds dry we do not like them but we need them.

Its better to be diapered and have to explain to your friends that you need to wear 24/7 then to explain why you were not wearing when you need to if you have an accident in the car or their house or anywhere.

after almost 2 years of wearing and about 1400 diapers or so I no longer worry about who knows I need diapers to deal with my medical issue.

just relax and don't stress about your absorbant underware requirements people close to you will understand and when you do not have to hide the fact you are wearing diapers from family and friends it becomes way easier to deal with wearing.

and remember we are all here to help you the best we can with support and advice.

Rob

Thanks Rob. This forum has been a true blessing. Ive had moments where I have been frustrated beyond belief and you all have helped me immensely.

I am grateful that I now have my diapers covered by medicaid. They arent the confidry Im used to but are the tranquiliy atn. I had to go through hell with my insurance to cover something that wasnt cloth backed but I weathered through it.

I have to go back to my urologist at the end of the month and report that the meds arent working. This will be my 3rd one and I think Im done.
