i had a couple days where i was able to make it to the bathroom. barely and i did it in a panic, but i did it. so i stopped wearing diapers, throwing caution to the wind. last night i was standing in the kitchen and without warning started to pee. i didnt even know i was doing it until i felt it on my leg. then i woke up in the middle of the night and the same thing happened. so today i decided to not throw caution to the wind anymore and just wear. i dont know if im ever gonna get better but i was starting to feel hopeful. not so much anymore.... ive got plans for today to get out (gonna go hang out with a friend later on) so ill just try to take my mind off it and enjoy getting out of the house since i cant do that much these days still recovering from surgery (i get my cast off next week and start physical therapy on the 20th!). im really grateful i got a case of confidrys and i was at home when it happened. the upside of being housebound, i guess. |

We all have good and bad days, even if our underlying condition hasn't changed. And unfortunately wishful thinking after a couple of those good days often does more harm than help. |

Justej sorry that you got that rude awakening. As Brian said we have good days and bad days. As for me, I have had some days in a row where I only had one - two accidents, but out of the blue my bladder reminds me I am not the one in complete control even though I haven't changed anything in my routine. I usually realize this if I am having to change before lunch and that brings me back to thank goodness I wear these things so my pants are not wet. Enjoy your time out of the house with your friend and hopefully you can have some fun and forget for a little bit everything you are going through. |

I have been down the road you are on. At some point you will realize that this is the way its going to be. For me its damage control by using the materials to contain it. |

It does help to reinforce the point that we should be thankful for our diapers! ![]() --John |

I don't want to veer somewhat off topic here, but prior to 1984, there were no adult disposable diapers. Pampers came on the market in the mid-1970s, but there was nothing for adults until "Depends" were introduced. They were aggressively marketed exclusively to seniors who had enjoyed an active lifestyle, but had developed urinary incontinence and were currently housebound due to it. I was 33 years old in 1984, and it never entered my mind for even a fleeting moment that this was a product that could be useful to me. As to adult cloth diapers, an incontinent person or someone caring for a loved one at home couldn't just go to the internet to order them or access a forum like this one for support and advice. I'm guessing doctors had to hook those folks up, as i don't recall any neon signs beckoning on the roadway.... W. |
