I am scheduled for my first colonoscopy this next week and wondering how that has worked out for any of you all that have had one. I have urge incontinence and oab and wear diapers 24/7. Maybe this needs to be in another area, but thought I would ask. Thanks!

I had one just a couple months ago.
I told them that I was incon and they were very professional about it. :D
I had my diaper on till just a few min before my procedure and as soon as I was done they helped me get my knee braces and my diaper ready.
The only bad thing that I had was having to drink that nasty drink before hand to get cleaned out.

Seconded, the prep is way worse than the procedure, but only because you really need to stay by the bathroom with a case of 8 hour diarrhea.

I actually stayed diapered right into the surgery room and they took off my diaper after I was knocked out. I was rediapered after I woke up. No problem, and the nurses were very professional. Well, except that hospital diapers really suck. Make sure you bring a change with you and you won't have to use one of their crappy ones.

Good point Brian, make sure you bring your own diapers with you. They poured the I.V. fluid to me and I filled my diaper to the max before I got home. It would have been a mess if I would have had one of there junk diapers on.

Let me second all the advice above. However, if the hospital personnel hydrate you with a big IV, or if they decide you're not cleaned out well enough, so they give you an enema before or during the procedure, you will need one or more premium diaper(s) to go home, and for the rest of the day. If you're susceptible to the anesthesia they use, you may need assistance for several hours afterwards. Good luck, and report back.

As a part of the preparation routine, you will need a thick zinc based diaper cream to precoat your back side. Reapply after every run to the toilet. This will keep you from getting a really bad rash.

Thanks so much for all the help! I will let you know how it goes. I will have both an upper GI and colonoscopy on Tuesday.

Thanks to all of you for the information and advice. Like you all said the prep is the worst part! We arrived early and they took me back to undress. I just shared with the nurse about my incontinence and it was no big deal at all. I told her I was wearing an adult diaper and did they want me to leave it on for the upper GI scope? She said no, that it would only take about 5-7 minutes for the upper GI and then they would do the colonoscopy. I was a bit concerned about all the fluids, but apparently I did not pee on any of their equipment! They had chux under me, so it would catch any leakage. I woke up in the recovery area, quite drunk! Cheap entertainment for my wife! I brought an Abena M-4 with me and she helped me put it on while still in the bed, then I got dressed and I staggered out to the car. Upper GI showed a hiatal hernia, which the doctor did not think would require surgery. The colonoscopy showed several polyps that they will biopsy, but he did not seem concerned about how they looked.

Interesting, I've heard general anesthesia can do that to some people but I've never experienced it myself. Good to hear they didn't find anything serious though.
