why is it that some medical staff people don't want to deal with people who wear diapers? I went to my urgent care place today, because I fell over the weekend where I injured my neck. when I was at urgent care today, the nurse never went over my medical history. all the nurse did was take my vitals and ask what meds I was on and left. about 45 mins. later the doctor came in and I told her about my injury and she did go over my medical history. she then told me what indeed to do get better. I did try to tell her that the only thing the nurse did was check my vitals. nothing was done about it. like I ask above why is it a problem for nurse/aides to deal with people with incontinence/diapers? I ben wondering about this for sometime now. you would think that most medical staff would have some understanding of this problem, it's bad enough that we get judge by other people for wearing diapers and to get judge by some nurse/aides too!!!. does anyone else feel this way? |

I don't think that sounds unusual at all. It's actually very consistent with all of my visits to doctor's offices. The nurse (or even an assistant) takes your vitals when you arrive, makes a note in your chart and leaves until the Dr. can get there. It has nothing to do with being incontinent. My urological difficulties are a recent problem for me, and what you describe has been my experience with doctors offices for years. |

I'm in total agreement with MikeInSF. I get a lot of medical care, and I've had the same experience across the board, both with my specialty physicians and my primary care physician. W. |

I'm in agreement with previous comments. I frequently have doc visits and the same thing happens to me each visit. I don't think the nurse did anything unusual by not talking to you about your incontinence issues. Her job was to take vitals and not to review medical history. Don't get upset over nothing. |

I also agree. Those nurses are actually quite overworked. It may not seem like it to us, but all they have time to do is get the basic stuff out of the way and prepare the right notes so the doctor can get up to speed quickly. Plus, nurses are not allows to treat patients, only make recommendations to the doctor and wait for him/her to walk in. This too often takes a while as the doctors are overworked too. It really does sound like you got the usual treatment. Incontinence doesn't even seem to have made a difference here, though I could be wrong. |
