Will I be in diapers forever? Will there be any options other than surgery? I am so scared of the tests they will run, will it be embarrassing  ?

The tests are run in a very professional manner. They are only as embarrassing as you let them be. Don't agonize over it.

The results of your tests will help your doctor answer your questions. Speculation right now would be meaningless.

Search the old message archive here and you will find many, many discussions of this topic and what your options may be.

Try not to worry about the tests, as John has ready said the staff deal with IC ISSUES day in and day out and every thing will be handled profesionaly

talk to you urologist about the different options and then think about the best option that works the best for you and that you are comfortable with.

This site ahs a lot of Great information and Great members who offer support and none medical guidence on how to deal wit IC Issues. The members here as well as a verry supportive wife helped me accept my Bladder issue and my cloice of wearing diapers to manage my OAB issue vrs meds.

Remember you are not alone and can ask any question here
good luck with your tests and hope they can find a solution.

Diapered mommy,
Try not to worry, that's easier said than done I know. After he or she looks at you they may already know what's causing your issues by there experience.

The tests can feel a bit embarrassing, but like the others have said, the staff is always very professional so it's only as bad as you make it out to be.

Don't let that stop you from getting them done though. Without test results your urologist might not be able to do anything for you, which will mean you will be diapered.

Even with them though, there is a possibility that yes you just might be in diapers for the rest of your life any ways. Just hope for the best, but also be mentally prepared for the worst. And also know that needing to be diapered 24/7 isn't any where near as bad as it always seems like it will be at first. Lots of us here have been able to accept it and still live full and social lives.

That question is hard to answer because they determine which tests are needed by your unique medical history. Suffice it to say, you will be treated with respect and compassion and hopefully find a long term solution.
