Hello, just wanted to introduce myself to the community, I am new to this whole Incontinence thing to a point. I was a bed wetter though middle school but have stopped until recently, these past couple of months I have been having accidents about 3-4 times a week and have been leaking during the day but not as bad as the bedwetting. I have just switched to my own insurance since turning 26 and still trying to figure out what doctor I can see and all that. After doing some research and trying to figure out what I am going to do I ran across this form and thought to reach out to other people experiencing what I am going though see how they handled it or are handling it. Looking forward to talking to you all.

Hi, Callahantr - welcome to the forum. IMO, You are absolutely doing the right thing by planning a doctor visit. You might know that bedwetting can recur at any time throughout a person's lifetime, even decades after a child outgrows it. It's best to have a medical exam so that you can rule out any serious problem, or at least catch it early if something is amiss (especially since you mentioned some daytime issues as well). Have you had a loss or other stress factor(s) come into your life recently? If so, you may just be reacting to that, and the night/day wetting will stop after a while. You should definitely follow through on the medical appointment, though.

Hi and welcome. Wetters is right, it's a good thing you're seeking out your doctors advice. You'll probably get a medication to "wait and see if it works", as well as a referral to see a urologist for a more comprehensive assessment/tests. It's always in your best interest to be open and honest with them too. And even if you're ok wearing diapers it's still necessary to make sure no other underlying or worse problems are causing it this time around.

Welcome to the group, you will find great information and support from the users here.

Dealing with IC issues can be hard to accept at first but remember you are not alone in dealing with bladder issues, glad you are looking for a doctor to help you find out what's happening.

Try not to delay seeing a doctor as you really need to get the referral for an urologist appointment as soon as possiable as it can take months to get the initial appointment.

Once you have seen the urologist and have done some tests you will be able to decide the best solution to deal with your bladder issues.

Ask any questions you need to and try not to be embarrassed by any question you may have, we are all going through simualer IC issues. None of us are Doctors and we can not replace profecional medical advice however we can just add real world experiences with dealing with IC issues.

Hope you get a urologist appointment soon and get some advice on how to treat your IC issue.

Add my welcome to those above. Although most of the regulars here have exhausted the medical and surgical management of their incontinence, urologists still successfully cure many. Good luck pursuing medical treatments, and keep us informed as you progress.

Thanks so much for the response guys, I am going to see a doctor next week for a physical and was wondering how to bring it up. Also is that the right doctor to see or should I schedule a visit with a urologist? Second thing is everyone around here has so much acceptance for just dealing with the problem at hand by wearing a diaper, I have decided to accept the fact that wearing a diaper is the best solution right now to manage my bedwetting. Do you guys have recommendations for diapers? Looking forward from hearing from you all!

Most insurance companies will require you to see your general practitioner so he/she can write you a referral to then go see an in network urologist. If the doctor you're seeing for the physical is your GP, then yes you will need to bring it. If not, you will need to schedule a different visit for the referral. Either way, your physical doctor will need to know about your incontinence problems any ways.

Second, I would recommend you start of with a good performing diaper. If it's more than you need, then slowly back down in their performance level (starting off too light would result in leaks). Most really good diapers will be what we call premium diapers. They are confidry24/7, northshore supreme, or molicare supers. Just below that would be bambino, abena xplus, or tena supers.

Be aware that you get what you pay for, and while premium diapers last longer (with fewer or almost no leaks), they do cost more. A large supply of premium diapers (and you will absolutely want to always keep a couple of extra bags on hand) will be expensive. Also, they tend to perform well simply because they are thicker. This is almost a direct correlation and the thinner you go the less effective they will be.

Welcome,
It is the most important thing you can do is get a good medical team together that you feel comfortable with, that will help you get control over, what is out of control right now. Getting good protection is a trial and error till you find what fits good and protects you from accidents.
