Hi everyone, I was just wondering. How many here have no pain associated with their incontinence issues? The reason I'm asking is the doctor seemed to be especially concerned about blood in urine and pain. I understand the blood/pain concerns and cancer, but why the lessening of concern if they aren't present I have an appointment with the GP in two weeks to discuss what's going on. One of my main concerns is a total lack of any kind of pain. The only problems are urgency (resulting in occasional wetting when severe urges hit) and the need to urinate 15 to 20 times a day/night. The fact that I have neither pain or bloody urine seemed to drop his concerns measurably. Thanks

Speaking only for myself, my urinary incontinence has caused intense pain. As little as four ozs. of saline infused into my bladder was enough to make it spasm uncontrollably; my external sphincter clamped shut, and I was in agony. A series of Botox shots solved the problem temporarily; however, each successive Botox treatment wore off after less time than the previous treatment. The only permanent solution was a sphincterotomy, which has made me permanently incontinent. I still get bladder spasms; however, with the sphincter gone, the pain is greatly diminished. The feeling is like a charlie horse of the bladder. It disturbs my sleep several times each week, and makes me wince when I'm awake, but it is endurable.

I really don't have any pain either. I have urinary frequency, urgency, hesitation, and leakage. I still hesitate to use the term incontinence because I always make the toilet, I just leak/ drip until the next time I have to go. I'm usually going 15-25 times per day, though lately the frequency is up closer to 30 times. I believe that it is interstitial cystitis, because I have a lot of the symptoms except for the pain. The lack of pain prevents me from getting officially diagnosed. I definitely have OAB, but I believe that I have interstitial cystitis As well as/coexisting with the OAB. As I've read, the definition of pain is subjective. Some people describe the pressure associated with the urgency as pain. Occasionally I will sleep through the night when not catheterized. When I wake up, I have. A bladder so full it hurts. Ted, your story sounds a lot like my story.

I also do not have much pain with my incontinence. I have urge in continence, which causes extreme urgency and involuntary emptying of my bladder unless I can get to the toilet very quickly. The only pain that I normally experience occurs if I try to restrain the leakage. As soon as I relax and "go with the flow", the pain ends.

I also don't have any pain with either my daytime urge incontinence or my bedwetting episodes.

I don't have any pain with my incontinence. Unless I have a infection, you sure you don't have a UTI ?

HI everyone, For me, there's never any pain. Just the sudden need to go. Which like a lot here causes a problem if I can't make it to the bathroom. I also have the wetting while I'm asleep. I think a lot of that is the meds that knock me out. Also, if it were a UTI it would be a dandy as the incontinence has been ongoing daily for fifteen years. LOL

I just pee and poop my diaper uncontrollably and wet the bed. :( However, thankfully I experience no pain! :D

No pain for me either, thank goodness.

My issues seem to stem from a significantly under-developed genito-urinary system thanks to a severe lack of testosterone hormones in my body throughout my life (not discovered until well into adulthood). Everything that testosterone helps to develop and grow (including my G/I tract) is just smaller and now, worn out already (at 45). I'm on hormone therapy but the damage was done a long time ago stemming from an accident at birth.
