Hi everyone. I've ben wanting to join for a while but have been a bit apprehensive for obvious reasons. I'm not entirely sure what I want to get out of get out of this community but it seems nice and friendly so I'm here to say hello :)

A little bit about myself, I'm male, 30yrs old and from North West UK. I have a very caring and accepting partner who has helped me greatly in coming to terms with my incontinence. I have had the problem recurring throughout my life and over the past few years' happenings in my life, I have decided that the best option for me is to wear nappies. I suffer from urinary incontinence day and night, which has been difficult at times, as I'm sure most of us have experienced. It's now gotten to the point where I'm simply not confident or comfortable if I'm not wearing protection. My local NHS incontinence clinic has been pretty useless unfortunately so I'm not massively hopeful of my chances of this improving.

Sorry for the essay! I guess I'm here to hopefully meet some others who are in the same situation as me and have had similar experiences. Hope you all have a nice weekend :)

Hello and welcome jakejames!

You have found the right place.

Most of us do not know much about nappies, but we know a lot about diapers. :D Actually, there are quite a few folk here from the UK.

You will find this group to be very friendly and helpful. You can discuss topics here that you would not think of posting somewhere else.

Don't forget to check out the New Diaper Primer and look through the archives of old messages for anything of special interest to you. If anything is too personal for you to post on the public forum, use a Personal Message to send it to a member.

What kind of nappies do you currently wear and how has that worked for you?

Thank you John, I feel welcome already :)

What is the Diaper Primer> Is that what you use to look at old messages or is that two different things?

At the moment I'm using iD Expert which are ok-ish. I have used a lot of the big name brands like Tena, Molicare and Depends but in the UK, plastic backed (which work best for me) are becoming less common. The nappies/ diapers I prefer are the plastic backed Abena but it's quite expensive to get them delivered to the UK. I use inserts with them too which does unfortunately make them quite bulky but they make up for it with less changes, which is the nest option for my current lifestyle. I haven't tried cloth though.

What do you wear?

Nice one! I had found it in the meantime actually but forgot to say. I think theres some great info there which will be handy for people who are new to dealing with any incontinence related issues. I'm no stranger to incontinence myself but it's great to see such honest and blunt advice available for those that seek it :)

Thanks Dave :) I've been dealing with incontinence for years but any more help is always welcome. Good to see someone from the same part of the world as me on here

Thanks Mike. I've been a lurker for a while and been on a few other sites so I'm already quite familiar with the quality of the info posted on here. It feels good to talk to others who are in the same situation. It's very encouraging and makes me feel a lot better about my condition. I'm at the point now where I'm more comfortable than ever about having to wear nappies/ diapers and talking to others about it. I think I have my gf and some recent-ish doc's visits to thank for that. And a lot of experience of living like this. Hope you have a nice Sunday :)
