Post subject:  What to wear- our best ways of concealing diapers and leaks

The old thread on clothing has sunk deep into the archive...
Let us share our experiences on clothing. Summer is coming, and we will be more vulnerable than ever.
A leak in khaki shorts is a nightmare...
Personally, I wear mostly black pants, or I wear dresses and skirts to hide the bulk.
I also have switched to only having PUL covers, as they both protect and breathe..
Let's share our best knowledge.

I will be following this closely. I've only been wearing nappies for a couple of months now, and hardly any of my clothes fit, so I need to get new stuff, but I'm really not sure what styles/ weights of fabric is best for disguising a full tape on nappy

I've been having a look round online... And I've found it pretty difficult to find women's shorts that would even be big enough to cover a nappy! I'm pretty sure that a lot of women's underwear are actually bigger than the shorts being sold! I need to find some shorts that actually have a little bit of leg length too them. I'm quite modest anyway, so if I'm wearing shorts the need to come to within a few inches of the knee. I've thought about skirts but I'm worried a lot of them will be too clingy. I even found myself looking at dungarees earlier  (coveralls?) but not many people wear them around here, so I don't know whether I'd have the confidence too! I think I'm going to end up with a whole wardrobe of black jeans at this rate!

My experience with skirts, is that it pays of to get the focus on the waistline. A-shape is functional. A straight but not tight one works also fine.
I also wear a pair of short legged underwear over the diaper. Hold in panties hide a lot.
I buy them one size larger than I would without diapers.

A trick I learned many years ago, is to draw focus to other parts than the butt.
Faces or letters on the Tshirt works. Even a bright coloured scarf helps.
A bag with color or an eyecaching logo distracts. A backpack can draw focus upward. We need a big backpack or bag anyway.

When I wear pants, I try to have a long top or loose shirt over, so I still hide my rear end.
What is easy to forget, is that diapers also changes the profile in the front.
When I wear shorts, I try to find cityshorts. If not black, some prints or patterns can hide things a bit.

Take a test if the fabric will show leaks by adding a small drop water.

Hope this is helpful..

Hi

You could always try wearing a skort in the summer as I am told the the shorts are great for holding the diaper in place and to hide the diaper. The skirt part gives extra modisty and gives a feminine look without the fear of a gust of wind exposing the diaper. If a longish blouse/t-shirt is worn this can be tucked in and gives extra layer to hide the diaper and any bunching distracts others from what is beneath. Tights/leggings can be added for extra warmth if needed.

Hope this helps.

Very helpful ideas, thank you. I haven't thought about skorts for years. I'll have to look for some :)

Cherylac,

Black jeans and black shorts in my size often are not in stock in local retail stores. I usually order them through Amazon Prime.

I do have Amazon Prime. I tend to forget that I've got it! I will have a look to see what they have. I'm very grateful for any/all advice

Pants or shorts a size or two big, regular/loose cut (never skinny) jeans, darker colors like black, navy, or dark wash denim.

I prefer microfiber shorts. They are cool in general and dry much quicker than cotton should there be a problem.

I like wearing layers, for example a T-shirt with an open button up or hoodie. The extra length of the outer layer camouflages the back. I've seen longer lightweight blouse-type shirts for women too.

Tucking an undershirt in helps keep a waistband from peeking, but can also accentuate the posterior. I only tuck a shirt in if I'm also wearing something over it.
