We all have bad days. What I am curious of, is what do we do to make it better, or comfort ourselves. The stereotype with a bucket of ice cream is not useful too often. Especially if the blood sugar needs attention. For me it often is a long stay in the bathtub, or lots of herbal tea.. All of us on this forum have our challenges. Maybe we could share our best coping strategies? |

One way i deal with stuff is to play video games. A game can be a great distraction to whatever it is that is on your mind. Other times I may take the kids out and let them pick some random toy they want. I like to see them happy and it's nice to treat them for no other reason then I love them. |

To give me a lift I put on a good action film or have a search for the wacky media/videos on the various online media eg YouTube. Otherwise viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1421 is a great place to have a laugh. If I am too desperate I go for a walk around the cemetery and tell myself how lucky I am it be alive. Reading the headstones some of the tragic stories makes me cry sometimes and gives me the reality check I need to put my bad day into context. |

I too take a break playing video games if my day was worse than normal....currently WOT - although that game in particular can cause a bad reaction anyway LOL. |

Grand Theft Auto IV Since beat the game so many times, I use the Native Trainer, and some mods, just to have some free roam fun. My car is set to be very heavy, so just pushes the traffic around, my UZI fires rockets and I have a few modded vehicles. It helps me learn how to mod, by manually installing the mods I get for it, so besides for fun, it's a learning thing. ![]() I also get a few odd things that happen, so sometimes get some neat videos. ![]() |

I have a serious brain injury and a disease that involves both of my inner ears. I dealt with both of these medical problems for years before an understanding doctor sat by my hospital bedside and explained the situation to me. Dealing with these two issues made anxiety and depression my constant companions. I cannot have been easy to live with for my family and friends. However, knowledge is power: now when I have a Meniere's attack, I know what is happening, why, and what I need to do to manage it. The same with incontinence. I understand, at least in layman's terms, what is happening, why, and what I need to do to manage it. My management in both cases is not perfect; I have accidents, and strangers sometimes make snide remarks about my "alcoholism," which I am happy to ignore. More recently I have developed gastroparesis. But, once again, knowledge is power. I know what I must do to manage it, and success is rewarding. The difference between my old anxious, depressed self and myself today is that I now have an accurate understanding of my situation and the determination to manage it successfully. |

My dog usually knows when I'm feeling down. She comes and sticks her big head into my lap and bugs me until I pay her attention. If I ignore her, she gets a tennis ball and drops that into my lap. Then we go outside for a while and I toss it for her. She never runs out of energy, and it becomes a great distraction for me. |

Distraction is always good. I use brownies. |
