I am wondering if anyone can explain something to me. Why can I go some days and nights with no issues what so ever, and other days I have all kinds of problems? As a result, I'm never sure if I should wear some kind of diaper or chance it. So, when ever I'm away from home I wear protection, and even at home if I know we will have guests. The urges at times come quickly accompanied with quite a bit of pressure and pain. My urologist says the distended bladder causing retention and the bladder diverticulum I have are the reason. With a lot of the reading I have done, bladder diverticulum are fairly common in men my age with few symptoms. Sooo, why do I have these problems? Another question off this topic. Can I change my user name to something more understandable, or is it best to leave it as is?

I don't know if anybody here knows why some days you have symptoms and some days you don't. Many of us have symptoms very similar to the ones you describe where we have a good days and bad days sometimes it seems like I could go without protection then I have an accident and realize that II was just kidding myself when I thought I didn't need protection. I make the toilet no problem but afterwards, it's like breaking the seal and I leak and leak without control.......so,while I have enough control to hold it and make the bathroom, I can't control the leaks that happen after I go there.....figure that out.....I also have urinary frequency where I go 15-18 times a day, but the last two days my numbers have been in the 20's.......25 trips to the bathroom yesterday before my ER nurse wife out a Foley catheter in me so I could sleep.....(I drank (6) 8 ounce cups of water only yesterday) I am a catheter user now because of this problem. The urologists have given up on me and just given me a prescription for Foley catheters.........even when I'm wearing catheters I usually have a diaper on too so, I never truly stray too far from adult diapers. so, we all feel your pain. We realize diapers aren't the best situation but they sure beat having wet pants......hang in there, you're not suffering alone....

Many of us are in the same boat.
If you use disposibles you should consider cloth for the good days. Even if you don't want to launder diapers it might be a good choice when you need protection just in case but have hopes of not needing it. In such a case it won't be different than washing regular underwear & much cheaper.

same here some days I am dry as a bone others not so much. The meds I was on did help a little, but they also made me act and feel like a zombie. So when the doctor said my bladder spasms and enlarge prostrate wont kill you, it is just a nuisance. I made a decision to go off the meds so I could be more alert vice being a zombie.

Thanks for the encouragement. Vandel, I use cloth at night, but hadn't thought about day time use. I will give it a try.
