Hello friends,
Since im always on the lookout for the win-win solution for incon, including extended wear briefs, i thought id give unique wellness a try. Just to compare the two, i got both origional and superio.. superio i had 2 sizes sent to me, medium and large, since, at a 36 waist..i seemed to be in between both.. well, i tried on the origional first.. not impressed with plastic backing strength.. the 4th tape tab came off in my hand when i went to apply it.. ive only had that happen with my attends breathable, never with plastic back diapers.. so in order to actually wear it..i had to duct tape it.. needless to say, i dont intend on using these..but i figured i wouldnt since they were more designed for shall we say less active individuals.. i will say this.. they seem marginally thinner than your garden variety premium/extended wear diaper.. id say about the same as tena slip maxi.. i never seem to have a whole lot of luck with briefs with the dual tab system.. except dry 24/7... last night's application at lunch of a fresh confidry brief went off without a hitch :) anywhoo.. all for now.. will report back when ive tried on the superio..

Sociologygeek,

I have worn the Unique Wellness for ages and I never had had a plastic tab come off of either the original diaper or the new Superio Signature, and, as I am bowel incontinent, I tape snugly to contain odor. As I wear the Superio Signature as my preferred diaper for exercise or going to our athletic facility, I give that diaper a workout (pun intended). You may have received a defective diaper. I will note that I have found the tapes and frontal taping panel on the new Superio Signature diaper to work better than the tapes on the original.

The plastic on the new Wellness Superio Signature diaper is stronger than on the original diaper. As the new Superio Signature is a totally redesigned diaper, it is necessary to be specific as to which diaper is being mentioned. The original diaper had several flaws which fortunately are absent in the new Superio Signature.

You mentioned the Tena Slip Maxi, which I wear daily. That is a good comparison. I would say that the Wellness Superio Signature might be viewed as a less expensive version of the Tena Slip Maxi. Both rely upon SAP crystals, rather than pulp fluff, to maintain their thinness yet achieve a very high total absorbency. Both have front taping panels. Both have internal leak guards. The leak guards on the Wellness are even higher than those on the Tena (particularly helpful for those of us with bowel incontinence.)

When both are purchased by the case, I calculate the Wellness Superio Signature diaper as costing about 76% of what the Tena Slip Maxi costs.

I am a 38 waist, and I tried the new Superio pull ups. Normally I am in between medium and large size, but the medium was way too small for me. I could barely get into these in medium, and it became almost painful to wear due to the snug size.

I couldn't agree more with JD's post about the Superio and the comparison made to the Tena Slip Maxi. I really like both of these products, they fit well and are, at least for me, the most comfortable diapers I have worn and which perform at a very high standard.

I got samples of these as well. Compared to what I have been using they can hold a lot.

I got mediums and I'm a 38 waist 42 around the hips and the mediums barely fit me. The tabs were at the very end of the landing zone thingy.

The landing zone is amazing compared to the dual tapes on the ATN that I have been using. You can adjust those things all day and they still hold on with kung fu grip.

The outer cover isn't as soft as the ATN but for some reason I don't chafe in the groin nearly as bad.

For the price I may go with these instead.

Ive actually tried tranquility, but its been years, never got beyond the sample pack im afraid. Both the slimline and the atn version seemed to have fickle tapes..and i remember the cut being a bit narrow in the width througout the diaper.. maybe it was sizing issue, not sure.. maybe ill give em another try now im a 36 instead of a 34

sociologygeek,

I found the Tranquility Slimline to be rather good for a modestly-priced breathable diaper. I wore it in extreme heat and humidity while being active during a trip to the Amazon River in Brazil and my usual plastic-backed diapers were impractical. I actually went fishing for Piranha while wearing that diaper. Like most breathable diapers, it shares the problems of stretching, re-taping, and transmitting odor. I recommend that you always wear plastic pants when away from home while wearing breathable diapers.

The Tranquility ATN (All Through the Night) is a fairly good and relatively inexpensive plastic-backed diaper. While I would never compare it with a premium diaper such as Abena, Molicare Super Plus, or Tena Slip Maxi, it gives good value for its price. For bladder incontinence, it has only a modest total absorbent capacity, but it offers the advantage of being relatively thin and easy to conceal. For bowel incontinence the plastic shell is important.

I tried their new pullups to see how good they are. The medium was so snug I could barely get it on without ripping. The large fit OK though. I'm a 38 waist, BTW. I was not impressed with the absorbency of either. No better than a depends IMO, as it leaked out the sides too quickly.

I am awaiting samples of the Slimline from Tranquility, looking at other middle of the road diapers for day use, I am guessing they are on par with Tena Supers? Will see how they work for me, but ordering online all the time can be a pain, easier to be able to just go and buy and get them the same day. 8) Puffy
