As I have noted, I was in the hospital and rehab for a spinal fusion with a few complications.

Because of my incontinence I already have given up just about all of my modesty. In the hospital and during much of my stay in rehab I had to have my diaper changed, help with my enemas, and digital rectal stimulation.

I remarked to my wife that during those 14 days more women probably had seen my backside than during my whole life!

To take the cake, a nurse was helping me take an enema on my knees and elbows on the floor with my bottom up when suddenly another nurse with a gaggle of young nursing students appeared in the doorway and asked "Can we watch?" They had never seen an old-fashioned red rubber bag enema before!

After I recovered from the shock I gave them permission. My wife is a retired RN and the young nurses have to get experience somewhere.

I knew you'd have some war stories to tell us about your hospital/rehab experiences. I guess incontinence gives us a new perspective on modesty.

For sure! When my incontinence reared its head during my hospital stays for stroke & heart attack, I was as exposed as anyone can get on a nightly basis in a wet bed with at least two young, good-looking male nurses/patient techs helping me. That which doesn't kill one makes one stronger.... And I was absolutely mortified.

Agreed ... modesty is a thing of the past (sadly). I too was subjected too the young trainee nurse (whom I had to coach a bit because of her embarrassment)!

ILuvL,

Exactly! The nurse was more embarrassed than I was!

I'm glad you're out of hospital and hope you're doing well. It sounds like you took the loss of modesty with a good sense of humour, which was most definitely the best way to take it.

JD,

It just occurred to me: That was as bad as standing in a TSA scanner. The only difference was you weren't standing in a room full of strangers looking on, who were about to endure the same experience.
