I think the subject line says it all. XPMedical is shipping for sure; didn't check other sites.

Yeah I think the new ones are much better than the old style. For once, changes to a product were actually a good thing!

So I managed to get hold of some of the new ConfiDry diapers, and in some ways they're better than the old ones; in some ways they're less good.

The good
- The plastic cover is thicker. I don't think thicker plastic is more waterproof than thinner, but I do think it's more durable and less prone to pinhole leaks, which I've experienced all too often.
- The standing leak guards are oddly rigid, though not uncomfortably so. I can't seen inside the diaper when it's on, but the results tell me that they stay up and effective at containing floods until they can be absorbed.
- They're thinner than the old version, so you could get away with wearing one under loose clothing if you needed to.
- The fit is excellent. The shape and the serious elastics fit me well, and I suspect they will fit most people well.

The less-than-ideal
- The plastic cover is thicker . . . and noisier. Normally plastic, once warmed, is reasonably quiet. These are decibel-challenged.
- They're thinner, but probably because they were run over by a 20-ton steamroller. As a result, they're very stiff. I also suspect that compression has compromised . . .
- Wicking, which isn't as good as I remember in the old ones. One of the reasons the old Dry 24/7 is as good as it was was that wetness was evenly distributed throughout, all the way to the back of the diaper. These seem less capable in that area. Once soaked through the crotch, they're less able to absorb quickly.

They're not perfect--no diaper is--but they're still one of the most capacious diapers out there. The previous 24/7, for instance, was so bulky that they were completely impractical for use in public unless you were wearing a hoop skirt--something I'm not prone to do. :-)

But all things considered, this is a good overnight diaper that really might actually be worthy of the moniker.
