Post subject: | Minor issue with Molicare |
I finally decided to settle on using Molicare Super Plus after fiddling with clamps, catheters, and many different types of diapers for the last year. The reason I chose them is because I found that their quality assurance at the factory is so good that I don't need to worry about defects, and the wick so well that I don't need to wear additional protection in the form of plastic pants. I'm having a small problem though, I have a 39 inch waist and wear the size large, and after the diaper "settles", the padding in the front flips to the outside. What I mean is that a 1/8 of an inch by 1.5 inch portion of the absorbent padding flips onto the outside for some reason, and phrases against my pants. After I have an accident, my pants will wick the urine , and I will have a small urine spot, roughly the size of an oval shaped half dollar. Has anyone ever had this issue before? This is really my only grip with molicare (the diaper sometimes bites into my legs as well if I tape it on too tight, but I guess that is my fault). I fasten the bottom tapes straight accross, half on just the plastic before the absorbent material, and half on the plastic after the absorbers material extends into the side. |

Try experimenting with how you fasten the top tapes ..... you might come up with a fix by changing the way you tape the top (waist) tapes. While you are experimenting with taping, consider additional taping with shipping tape; in effect making three tape tabs per side on your diaper. Another thought is to tuck the front of the diaper inside....you do the flipping but flip the topmost part of the front of the diaper back inside itself. Now that will leave some plastic backing against your skin and that may or may not be tolerable. |

I second what JoeK said. We did the same with our boys when they wore diapers. Try flipping the waist band down on the inside of the brief. This should keep wetness off your pants/shorts. Also you can keep things situated by wearing a pair of tight fitting underwear over the brief to keep things where they should be. I wear molicare too and had good luck with wearing something over the diaper. |
