I've tried taking Ditropan twice since my doctor prescribed it and was surprised it seemed to make everything worse. Despite having voided several times throughout the night I woke with a mild pain and pressure in my bladder. When I tried to urinate it was very difficult to start the stream, I had to strain hard to start and continue the flow. Later I would find that I had even less warning (about 30-60 seconds) before I could no longer hold myself.
I think my problem was due to an inability to completely empty my bladder in the first place and I suspect the Ditropan may have caused an increased retention so that even a small amount of fluid added to me bladder would make it very full triggering an even more urgent need to urinate.
In what I think is a related matter my low back pain is getting worse, I'm getting strange sensations and pain down my legs and into my feet and toes. I'm also getting swelling in both legs.

if you suspect bladder retention which it sounded like from your description you need to get medical help and esp with difficulty passing urine.

this does sound like you may end up down the catheter road but only a trained medical person would know for sure.

thankfully this can be corrected and there are lots of options they may offer.

medications - there are many types out there so ask for something else but be warned they all seem to carry the dreaded dry mouth side effects.

I went to see my GP today. I developed pain in my right testicle again indicating I probably have another prostate infection. This is as I suspected, it looks like I might have chronic bacterial prostatitis but we'll see what the specialist says. My GP prescribed Cipro.
Yesterday I was very uncomfortable. I had pain in my prostate, constant pressure in my bladder, and a near constant dribble that started late morning after an urgent trip to the restroom.

Hopefully I'll see the specialist soon. We have a public healthcare system here and it can often take a few months to get in to see someone. I have an option to see a private specialist but at my own expense. However they do triage the patients here, if they think my condition is urgent (no pun intended) I'll get bumped up the list.

i was diagnosed in 2010 with chronic bacterial prostatitis and it resulted in me been in hospital for 6 days knocking at the door as they say, temp was 41c!

if they do suspect this and your condition does get worse then don't hesitate to go to E.R.

after my hospital episode i asked for the prostate removal but they couldn't do it due to too many risks and now have chronic prostatitis. think i have lost count of the number of times it has had to be treated.

think you mentioned some wetting problems and i too get this which is through the prostate condition, spasms, bypassing then wetting.

any way to do monitor your condition closely,
