Post subject:  Inflamed stomach, problems wearing anything...

I have struggeled with bowel problems for the last months.
Not the usual, where I have problems keeping it in, but a nasty constipation.
The cause is 99% likely to be mental stress. Medication has helped almost nothing,
and last week I had a trip to the hospital. I skip all the nasty details.
During this, i have faced a really difficult problem.
My stomach has been so tender, that sitting, walking or lying down has been
really painful.
Diapers and plastic pants are kept in place by elastics or tape ... around the stomach.
There have been days where i could not wear anything. It has been too painful.
Do anyone have experiences on how to get on a diaper without pressure on the stomach?
It takes a while to order online, so simple solutions will be appreciated.
Being female, condom catheter is not an option.
Sorry for my bad humor...

Is it possible you can not pull them up so high in the front? If they were sitting a bit lower on your abdomen it might not hurt as bad. The only other option I can think of is wear them looser and use a onsie to keep them in place. I hope that helps even the littlest bit.

At my worst moments the design of a clowns trousers
with a ring in the wasteline and braces looks tempting.
I have tried to roll them down, and on the not so bad days
it works, but some days are difficult.
I seriously think of removing the elastic in the waistline
on one of my PUL pants, and support them with braces.
The next problem is getting the diaper itself to stay in place.
On the worst days going out of the house is impossible,
and I have no one to buy groceries for me.
When it comes to solutions, all that counts is function.
Forget everything about the esthetics..

I completely understand going for function over fashion. And I am sorry you are going through this. I can only suggest getting a snap crotch T-shirt (Onsie) to help provide support without having to have the waist of a diaper too tight. I hope things get better soon.

I am better now, and can dress a little more normal, but I have days
that are really difficult.
Anyway, I have been able to buy the groceries I need, so there is one less thing to
worry about.
I would love to have onesies, but I have to order them from the states,
and that takes time. Transport and taxes is Quite expencive, so to buy some,
I will need to save up some money first.
I am still able to use the idea, as I have a sowing machine.
There may be a few hours spent trying to make some.
That is positive anyway, as it is something constructive I can do.
Maybe a combinarion of PUL and onesie?

Hi optimist.

I use a combination of PUL, molicare super plus, and a bodysuit made by abena. I wear them to work everyday. I wear scrubs because I work in a hospital. Nobody is the wiser. I find my combo works very well. I have severe bladder and bowel incontinence. Even if somebody were to spot me, I don't think anybody would say anything. As you said, when it comes to solutions, all that matters is function. As long as my clothes stay clean and dry, that's all I care about.

Optimist,

Abena makes what they call a "body stocking," which is,the same thing as a onesie. I've seen the Abena product for sale on European web sites. If you're in Europe, the shipping charges should be less than ordering from the States.

We found the reason for the inflammation.
My body does not handle lactulose. My GP says it is rare, but it happens.
I wish I had known this two months ago, as when I got worse, the doctors only increased the dose.
Nice. More of what caused the problem.
I am now slowly getting back my functions, and I am able to wear clothes without extreme pain.
Thought this information could be useful, as some of us struggle with this part of the body.

Goodness! So a solution to this problem at least. Well done.

A little update..
Even though I got better from avoiding lactulosis, I never got quite well.
I ate movicol until mid january, when I reacted to the medicine getting a stomach ulcer. Painful...
After an agreement with my gp, I had to rinse my bowels with water one or two times a day, to keep the inflammation from going really bad.
Now the real cause of the problem is exposed. A sharp piece of plastic came out.
It has been hidden on all xrays, and has kept stuck even through the hospitals emptying regimes.
The only explanation for it to come out now, is that the daily emptying reduced the inflammation, and thereby the swelling, so it would come loose.
How I got it in there? I had a period where I was quite dissociative, and it must have mixed itself into my food.
I do not eat strange stuff voluntarily..
0,5x 0,5 cm plastic is more dangerous than it would look like..
