Has anyone tried interstim therapy for urinary incontinence? |

I've seen posts by people who were going to try this. Usually there is no one on the forum who has and the person is asked to report back and say how things went but somehow never do. So, flagrl1225, if you go for a trial could you come back and let us know how you got on, please? it would really help the next person who comes along wanting the same info. Oh, and why are you thinking of interstim? I know it seems to offer the possibility of button press continence but I'm sure there are downsides too. |

I did a quick look around and search, a dozen or so posts about it, but all were chatter about trying but no one who actually went through with it and reported about the experience or success/fail report. Let us know either way! Puffy |

I'm going on Thursday to see if I'm eligible. If I go through with the trial I will for sure post back. This is the first option that has been presented to me to make things better, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up. It doesn't seem like it is a cure all solution. One major downside to it is you can't have any MRIs with it in. It has to be taken out. I've had a lot of MRIs lately and don't know if the neurologist is going to be ok with me getting it. I meet with both the urologist and the neurologist over the next two weeks, I'll let you guys know. |

Flagirl, Be careful and stay well informed on the interstim. I talked to several practitioners and people who had the device. You cannot have any MRI's and also the leads go into the sacral nerve in the tailbone. These leads can slip leading to the need for repeat surgeries. The people I met had been under the knife several times to get theirs repaired. This is not something I'm willing to do. I'm also bowel incon so whats the point if I still have to wear a diaper. And the device is not guaranteed nor are the results. The people I talked to had theirs removed after a failure period and the repeat surgeries I mentioned. It just wasn't worth it to me. Or them. Good luck! I wish you the best. Don |
